POSITION SUMMARY The Learning & Development (L&D) Manager plays a key role in driving Capella Hotel Group’s performance standards and goals by coordinating and implementing a wide range of development initiatives. This role provides leadership, direction, and guidance to the Learning & Development function on properties, ensuring teams execute programs effectively and align with CHG’s strategic goals. The role focuses on setting vision, monitoring performance, coaching the L&D team, and building strong partnerships with stakeholders to drive service excellence and continuous professional growth across the organisation. In addition, the L&D Manager leads the design, implementation, and streamlining of core learning and development initiatives across both existing and new properties. THE ROLE Strategic Leadership & Oversight Position L&D as a key driver of Capella’s service culture and talent growth, ensuring initiatives are impactful, innovative, and aligned with brand values. Act as a champion for the value of continuous learning, ensuring senior leaders and department heads on properties are engaged in supporting training and development initiatives. Provide direction on the design and delivery of training solutions, ensuring programs address performance gaps, leadership competencies, and future workforce needs. Provide guidance and approval on Learning Needs Analyses conducted by the team, ensuring alignment with operational performance metrics and business priorities. Oversee the annual learning budget, ensuring resources are allocated with purpose and deliver measurable returns Review partnerships with internal and external training providers, ensuring vendors meet Capella’s standards of excellence. Training Administration Manage and administer monthly training assignments for the Group through the KnowBe4 and ACE platforms, ensuring timely completion and accurate tracking. Develop and upload Learning Modules in ACE, including preparation of PowerPoint slides, Facilitator Guides, and Learner Guides. Organise and coordinate Management/Graduate Trainee orientation programs as well as cross-exposure programs to enhance leadership and functional development. Support operational and corporate leaders in the implementation and delivery of training initiatives, ensuring smooth execution and consistency across properties. Act as a subject matter expert, continuously improving the L&D process and ensuring all learning initiatives are aligned with business needs. Provide support and coaching to Human Resources leaders on learning and talent development matters, building their capability to execute training locally. Review, analyse, and measure the effectiveness of learning and talent development activities, preparing reports and recommendations that support the achievement of the Group’s strategic objectives. Review and approve training grant applications, ensuring compliance with requirements and maximising external funding opportunities. Talent Development Empower property L&D leaders to take ownership of their roles, encouraging accountability and excellence in exceeding guest and colleague expectations. Partner with the hotel’s Director of Human Resources to provide accurate information on leadership bench strength, gaps and potential future leaders to ensure strong talent pipelines across properties. Oversee structured internship and apprenticeship programs, ensuring traineeship goals are met. Pre-Opening Represent Human Resources in pre-opening and rebranding whenever assigned to these projects. To communicate and work closely with all stakeholders including General Managers and property level Human Resources team to provide guidance and ensure that they have the framework and tools to successfully open or rebrand new hotels/residences. Collaborate with operational leaders to assemble and train pre-opening task forces, embedding Capella’s service and engagement philosophy from day one. In consultation with respective business partners and Human Resources leaders, co-create pre-opening training programs and schedules, ensuring seamless integration of Capella’s brand standards. TALENT PROFILE Qualification Bachelor's degree in human resources, organisational development, business administration, or a related field. Master's degree or certification in Adult Education or organisational development preferred. Work Experience Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing learning and talent development initiatives. Proven track record of success in designing and implementing learning and talent development programs that drive employee engagement and organisational effectiveness. Technical Skills Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive results in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and credibility with employees at all levels of the organisation. Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset and a passion for continuous improvement. Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
