Formulation Chemist page is loaded## Formulation Chemistlocations: Central Singapore, Singaporetime type: Full timeposted on: Posted Todayjob requisition id: WThe CP PS&T Formulation Scientist utilizes his / her formulation expertise to design and develop proprietary, innovative formulations with significant business impact to the company, provides technical support to our customers and key stakeholders and support the introduction of new formulations. The incumbent will define and conduct research across multiple project areas using in-depth knowledge and proactive application of scientific principles, theory and experimental design. In addition, the incumbent will perform research across multiple disciplines while developing and implementing technical solutions through hands-on experimentation.**Core Responsibilities:*** Designs and develops novel formulations and delivery systems for new and existing active ingredients through hands-on experimentation.* Utilizes formulation technology expertise to serve as a subject matter expert during technology transfer and implementation of new product launches in the region.* Develops value-creating solutions for our customers and stakeholders (manufacturing, regulatory, biology, commercial) in response to presented problems with broad scope and impact.* Leads the investigation of product quality concerns / issues and troubleshooting of product quality issues at plant level, conducts rework evaluations and provides recommendations to the plant.* Applies scientific knowledge, technical skills, and leadership to deliver high quality scientific results that are aligned with R&D project plans and create business value.* Leads multi-disciplinary teams of scientists to deliver key technical milestones of large projects.* Demonstrates expertise in use of experimental / computational / theoretical methods and data handling.* Participates in the innovation process as it applies to specific projects and contributes to the innovation process through new opportunity identification. Collaborates with other functions in CP PS&T R&D and across R&D to explore, test and reduce to practice novel delivery concepts.* Consistently applies the Scientific Method in the planning and execution of experimental plans and problem solving. Formulates hypotheses and develops experimental plans to test hypotheses. Leverages Six Sigma tools and methodology to solve complex problems with projects of regional or global scope.* Keeps current with developments in area of formulation science and identifies and implements applications which will benefit the company. Has an in-depth understanding of the patent and journal literature across related areas of technology. Understands and incorporate the competitive landscape in technology mapping. Works with legal department to manage IP and secure freedom to practice and patent new technologies.* Provides constructive input to project participants.* Mentors junior level scientists and technologists.* Delivers presentations or reports that distill complex ideas into clear results and proposals; communicates appropriately to influence internal and external audiences.* Communicates and appropriately documents work in the form of internal reports / presentations and external publications / presentations (when appropriate). Drafts and submits patent disclosures as appropriate.* Utilizes in-depth knowledge of business ambitions, goals, and strategies to define project concepts.* Serves as SME or project leader on large multi-disciplinary project teams to collaborate, provide technical input and deliver results aligned with team deliverables.* Develops strategies for using external contact network; demonstrates influence to external organizations that impact and contribute to business success.* Maintains university / 3rd party research organizations contacts to keep technologies at state of the art level and bring suitable technologies in house.* Serves as EH&S advocate for work group, ensuring understanding and adherence to policies and procedures. Leads team in promotion of best safety practices, habits, and behaviors.**Qualifications:**Educational Requirements:* Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, material science or related field* Fluency in English is a must for this position. Additional language skills (e.g. Japanese) would be an advantageTechnical / Functional Knowledge:* Minimum of 2 – 5 years expertise in crop protection formulation design and development.* A solid track record of documentation. Ability to work independently and drive projects to completion. Demonstrated significant involvement in designing studies, carrying out experiments, interpreting data, etc. to meet project milestones.Organizational Knowledge:* The incumbent needs to be familiar with the R&D organization and the roles performed by each R&D function. The incumbent needs to be familiar with the Operations organization and Commercial organization for Crop Protection* An ability to think ‘out of the box’ to develop novel, creative solutions for product and regulatory challenges and to inspire innovation in others is critical, as innovation will be the key to future breakthrough improvements in product development.Interpersonal Effectiveness:* Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Build extensive network outside the CP PS&T R&D sub-function. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to delivers presentations that distill complex ideas and proactively communicates results and progress to technical teams, supervision, management, and business leadership.* Ability to successfully partner with team members and stakeholders from multiple backgrounds and cultures.
