Responsibilities
  • A strong people manager who has experience in running various projects, overseeing multiple functions and leading a team of engineering specialists.
  • Act as Electrical Engineer subject matter expert to work with stakeholders and consultants during concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, SAT, delivery, and installation on site. Identify and resolve issues raised by cross-functional teams.
  • Update and maintain internal design specifications, drawings, and standards with the latest configurations, including all lessons learned for equipment. Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for new data centers.
  • Liaise with internal business units and external customers to translate technical requirements into executable implementation plans by consultants and/or contractors.
  • Knowledgeable in Building Management System/DCIM; understand system architecture and point schedules. Experience with BMS/DCIM enhancement projects.
  • Evaluate design, construction and operation of mission-critical facilities and associated MEP components.
  • Participate in and review data center MEP design and other disciplines for new data center builds and data hall fit-outs.
  • Collaborate to enhance MEP design to meet future needs and develop innovative solutions.
  • Own conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions to add capacity, improve availability, and increase efficiency and sustainability.
  • Support the DC operation team to become a Subject Matter Expert; partner with DC operations to troubleshoot and resolve electrical system issues.
  • Provide technical guidance for system upgrades, retrofits, and lifecycle management.
  • Conduct site inspections, system audits, and performance evaluations.
  • Interface with internal stakeholders to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services.
  • Liaise with Operations to identify electrical system issues and provide solutions.
  • Perform technical design reviews and proposals for data center first-of-kind systems and equipment.
  • Review data center commissioning scripts to ensure all modes of operation are tested; witness key commissioning tests on site.
  • Conduct site inspections and work with on-site field engineers; provide engineering evaluations, mechanical systems audits, and startup support as needed.
  • Maintain positive, collaborative relationships with partner teams, vendors, teammates and internal customers.
  • Lead, mentor and support a team of project managers, engineering managers and energy managers to foster a high-performance culture.
  • Promote a culture of creativity, collaboration, speed, innovation, and excellence in the engineering and DC development organization.
  • Involvement in green and brown-field projects such as site selection, coordinating internal headcount and external consultants, overseeing design and tender awards, construction, etc.
  • Shortlist and engage best-in-class consultants to assist in design development and tender preparation, including project cost budgeting.
  • Lead engineering technology and construction methodology R&D to improve electrical system design, DC energy and water efficiency, build efficiency, and sustainability by lowering PUE, WUE and carbon emissions.
  • Lead engineering studies including technical assessments, site feasibility studies, new technology research, and business case development for board approval.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned to support business growth.
  • Collaborate with core teams to update DC electrical designs from basis of design (BOD) to IFC documents for new builds and major upgrades; test and commission across all levels.
  • Assist in preparing project budgets, cost estimates, and procurement strategies; evaluate vendor proposals and participate in tender activities.
  • Collaborate with internal units, operations, and external customers to translate technical requirements into executable plans; interface with cross-functional teams to resolve design and implementation challenges.
  • Promote engineering standards and consistency across regional projects; ensure compliance with local and international codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NFPA, ISO).
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to electrical systems, safety, and operational continuity.
Qualifications
  • Minimum bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • At least 12 years of experience with 5 years in people management.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in data center related works involving DC development and engineering.
  • Knowledge of large-scale mission-critical facility mechanical infrastructure systems.
  • Experience with fast-track design/build projects and/or multiple significant upgrade projects.
  • Strong electrical background with ability to lead design requirements, identify SPOFs, oversee fault analysis and solve complex engineering problems (e.g., power).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills; strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Positive work attitude, ability to work independently and as a team player; ability to lead a team of engineers and consultants.
  • Willingness to travel within the Asia Pacific region.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, standards, and commissioning practices.
