Role Objective

The Merchandising Executive plays a crucial role in driving sales performance, maximizing profitability, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. This role leverages data analysis, consumer insights, and fashion trends to optimize sales and profitability, balancing commercial creativity with operational excellence. Responsibilities include forecasting demand, buying, coordinating shipping and procurement, managing inventory flow, and distributing merchandise for the retail stores. Some International travel—including buying trips to Alo HQ—should be expected.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Planning & Buying

  • Analyse sales data, customer behaviour, and market trends to generate precise demand forecasts.
  • Plan seasonal buys to align with business objectives, considering consumer demand and globally directed storytelling.
  • Continuously monitor sales performance and product assortment, identifying actions to increase conversion and minimize markdowns.

Shipping, Purchase Order & Documentation Management

  • Review inventory readiness in Alo warehouses to ensure timely launches and replenishments.
  • Organize, review, and manage shipping documentation (commercial invoices, packing lists), ensuring accuracy and compliance with import/export regulations.
  • Process and track purchase orders for each shipment.
  • Oversee inventory transfers from warehouses to stores, supporting replenishment, colour launches, and projected spikes during key commercial periods.

Distribution & Inventory Allocation

  • Manage transfers and allocations of inventory between warehouses, stores, and distribution channels.
  • Ensure accurate and timely product assortments at each location using data-driven inventory management.
  • Implement stock reduction strategies, maintain closing stock goals, and ensure timely replenishment in collaboration with warehouse and logistics teams.

Market & Customer Insight

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market and competitor activity, leveraging omni-channel and store analytics to inform merchandising strategies and enhance the customer offering.
  • Identify and respond to sales opportunities or risks, providing actionable feedback to commercial and store teams.
  • Present regular reports on assortment performance, market activity, and consumer trends, offering actionable recommendations on buys and allocations.

Cross-functional Coordination & Reporting

  • Build strong relationships with commercial, logistics, supply chain, marketing, and finance teams.
  • Regularly communicate order status, allocation decisions, market insights, and stock movements.
  • Prepare and communicate clearly with Alo Global teams on sharing feedback and insights to the business to inform current and upcoming assortments.
  • Setting up a regular cadence for the exchange insights with the retail teams on consumer and market trends that inform assortment decisions on current and future assortments.

Travel & Buying Trips

  • Conduct store and market visits to review in-store execution, gather local insights, and ensure alignment with consumer nuance in Singapore.
  • Participate in international buying trips to review new season adoptions and collections, ensuring the Singapore offer resonates with local consumers.

Compliance & Record Keeping

  • Ensure full compliance with company policies and relevant regulations in all buying and merchandising activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for all assortment, purchasing, and supplier transactions.

Core Skills and Qualifications

· Minimum 2+ years of experience in a client-focused, sales-driven environment.

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to make sound decisions.
  • Strong organizational skills with keen attention to detail; highly responsible and accountable.
  • Open to feedback and enthusiastic about providing constructive feedback to others.
  • High-energy, positive.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to excel both independently and as part of a team.
