A day in the life of...
Responsible for the overall Regulatory, Scientific Affairs, and Nutrition functions within R&D. The successful candidate will provide and manage early regulatory input at each phase of product development to ensure regulatory compliance by design. This position will also oversee food safety compliance and consumer quality within the Ice Cream category specific Innovation & Renovation process.
Key Outputs:
Innovation / Renovation:
- Perform regulatory assessments in I&R according to internal standards to evaluate developments in I2L R&D projects.
- Evaluate projects at each product development phase to identify regulatory hurdles and develop solutions or processes to mitigate potential risks to brand and company reputation.
- Establish action plans with project managers based on regulatory assessments.
- Ensure effective handover of regulatory assessments to launching markets during the Industrialization phase.
- Provide regulatory expertise to resolve issues on Ice Cream projects globally, collaborating with regulatory contacts at other Ice Cream R&D Centers.
- Stay informed on relevant regulatory trends impacting I&R for Ice Cream.
- Monitor regulatory developments of competitors to identify strengths and weaknesses in their communication and substantiation regarding nutrition, health, and natural claims.
- Assess ongoing developments against regulatory requirements to evaluate the business potential of the I&R pipeline.
- Communicate potential risks to brand and company reputation clearly.
- Drive regulatory validations for multiregional launches to ensure compliance by design.
- Gather and analyze regulatory information across countries related to ice cream and frozen confections.
- Maintain a database on competitive claims made by major ice cream players and their potential impact on our business in key markets.
- Contribute to specifications of raw materials and finished products.
- Align NDU Ice Cream OMP priorities to support the Ice Cream category, SBUs, markets, and CT-PTD.
- Complete market technical assistance requests on time and to standard.
Coaching & Sharing:
- Enhance regulatory knowledge within NDU and R&D for effective I&R.
- Establish and maintain a training platform for Project Managers in alignment with CT-RSA.
- Provide input to regulatory strategy and corporate objectives under the leadership of CT-RSA.
- Promote a 'Right First Time' approach in new product development within NPTC.
- Develop and maintain category-specific standards, guidelines, and knowledge transfer processes.
- Build competencies for quality professionals within the category.
- Lead knowledge sharing on crises and major quality failures related to design origin issues.
Networking:
- Foster synergies through effective networking with other R&D PMOs and external partners.
- Propose and drive new ideas and project methods to NDU and Market Application Groups.
- Build and document knowledge on latest methods, trends, and developments.
- Explore process improvements through benchmarking with other NPTCs and markets.
- Participate actively in expert networks to promote cross-site collaboration.
Full Compliance:
- Coordinate multi-market developments and launches with regulatory affairs to ensure flawless, compliant product introductions.
- Ensure new product innovation and renovation projects meet food safety, product compliance, and consumer quality standards.
