As the Procurement Manager / Assistant Manager, you will play a critical role in setting up the procurement infrastructure, sourcing strategy, and supplier base for new pharmaceutical operations. This is a hands-on, high-impact role that requires strategic thinking, operational execution, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the timely and compliant acquisition of materials and services, while shaping the procurement function to support long-term growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with company objectives and regulatory requirements (e.g. HSA, PIC/S, ICH guidelines).
  • Lead sourcing, negotiation, and contracting for direct and indirect procurement categories (API, excipients, packaging, equipment, and services).
  • Manage and evaluate supplier performance; build and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Quality, Regulatory, R&D, and Manufacturing to ensure timely and compliant procurement.
  • Monitor market trends, risks, and opportunities to optimize cost and mitigate supply chain disruptions.
  • Implement best practices in procurement processes, including digital tools and spend analytics.
  • Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies, SOPs, and ethical sourcing standards.
  • Prepare and manage the procurement budget; track KPIs and savings targets.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Pharmacy, Engineering, or related field. (CIPS or equivalent certification is a strong advantage)
  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in procurement, preferably in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, quality compliance, and regulatory standards in pharma procurement.
  • Proven negotiation skills and experience with contract management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
