Manager, Informal Science Programmes

Position Overview

Science Centre Singapore is dedicated to promoting interest, learning, and creativity in science & technology through engaging and enjoyable experiences, contributing to the nation's development of human resources.

We are seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join the Education division as Manager, Informal Science Programmes.

The Manager, Informal Science Programmes, is responsible for leading a team that develops and implements immersive science learning experiences, with a focus on Life Sciences, particularly in molecular genetics and genomics. The role includes supporting nature science and kitchen science programmes, managing stakeholders effectively, and inspiring students, teachers, members of the public, and families. The position also aims to drive visitorship and revenue for the Centre.

Essential Job Functions

You will lead, mentor, and coach a team to achieve excellence. Responsibilities include delegating and overseeing project development, managing staff schedules, conducting appraisals, coordinating leave, and overseeing training. You will support Standards and Quality Control processes to maintain programme excellence.

You will drive strategic initiatives to achieve the Education Division's goals, optimize Centre performance, enhance revenue, and increase visitor engagement.

You will manage educational projects and events from conception to execution, build relationships with sponsors, and develop educational content such as articles, pamphlets, and handbooks. You will also promote the Centre's educational programmes and uphold high-quality standards.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should have a tertiary qualification in Life Sciences or equivalent, preferably with postgraduate qualifications and at least 8 years of relevant experience.

The role requires strong knowledge of modern Science and Technology concepts, proven project management skills, and successful team leadership experience.

The candidate should demonstrate passion, innovation, integrity, and attention to detail. They should be adaptable, self-motivated, eager to learn, and capable of working independently and collaboratively. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and writing skills are essential.

Candidates must be willing to work on weekends and public holidays when required.
