Overview

About the role This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic team at Simpson Spence Young as a Shipbroker. As a Shipbroker, you will play a crucial role in facilitating the movement of goods and materials across international borders. This full-time position is based in the Central Region and offers the chance to build a rewarding career in the marine shipping, ship brokerage industry.

Responsibilities

  1. Negotiating and finalising charter parties and other commercial agreements with clients and shipping companies

  2. Providing expert advice and guidance to clients on all aspects of the shipping process, including customs clearance, freight forwarding, and logistics

  3. Maintaining strong relationships with key industry stakeholders, such as port authorities, shipping lines, and freight forwarders

  4. Monitoring market trends and developments to identify new business opportunities

  5. Preparing detailed reports and presentations to inform business decisions

  6. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of client projects

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar shipbroking or freight forwarding role

  2. Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong client relationships

  3. Proficient in using relevant shipping and logistics software, as well as Microsoft Office applications

  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve complex issues

  5. Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing business needs
