Overview

Research Assistant/Associate (Dept of Medicine) at National University of Singapore, Kent Ridge Campus, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Department: Medicine.

Responsibilities
  • Design and perform experiments towards completion of the specific research aims of the ongoing projects and the overall goal of the laboratory. Carry out rigorous analysis of the data derived from the experiments, make intelligent observations and meaningful interpretations of the analysis.
  • Primary cell culture and maintenance of cell lines; isolation of primary cells.
  • Animal handling and in vivo experiments.
  • Maintain lab in good running order including handling lab safety and regulation issues, and equipment maintenance.
  • Must work well with the team and be able to learn new techniques quickly.
  • Produce publishable outputs and assist in writing manuscripts and grants.
  • Ensure timely submissions of required documents to relevant agencies and authorities.
  • Assist with grants, safety, IACUC protocol submissions, reports and amendments.
  • Attend study meetings as required.
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external agencies during the course of work.
  • Ad-hoc admin work assigned by Senior Manager & PI.
Qualifications
  • Hold a Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Life Sciences/Biological Sciences with at least 3 year’s of laboratory experience.
  • Hands-on expertise with molecular biology techniques including, gene knockdown/knock-in, qPCR, histology, immunohistochemistry and western blotting.
  • Experience with cell culture and cell-based assays.
  • Expertise with handling mice and perform mice experiments, especially in cardiology related mice work.
  • Independent, with strong emphasis on team work.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, is meticulous, organized, proactive and have an investigative nature
  • Proficiency in MS office applications, (MS office, PowerPoint. Excel spreadsheet), statistical analysis using Prizm software.
  • Good written and communication skills.
