Hawksman Technology is working with a leading technology media organisation on a major transformation journey to modernise its cloud infrastructure and internal platform capabilities.

Role: Head of Cloud Platform

We are looking for an experienced and strategic technology leader to lead a high-impact Cloud Platform Engineering team. In this senior role, you'll be responsible for building and evolving the internal developer platform that supports mission-critical digital products used by millions.

This position is ideal for someone with a passion for platform engineering, developer experience, and driving cloud strategy at scale.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and scale the Cloud Platform team across cloud infrastructure, DevSecOps, and developer tooling.
  • Own and evolve internal AWS/GCP platforms to enable secure, cost-effective, and reliable software delivery.
  • Drive cloud cost optimisation and enforce cloud-native best practices and security guardrails.
  • Build internal tooling for observability, performance testing, CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, GitHub, etc.).
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to embed developer experience into the organisation's core.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of software or platform engineering experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Deep expertise in AWS (GCP a bonus), cloud architecture, cost management, and platform governance.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, observability tools, and DevSecOps practices.
  • Proven track record of building platforms that scale and empower engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
