Overview

Consulting Director - Transaction Advisory (ESG / EHS / Technical Due Diligence) based in Singapore, leading and participating in a variety of projects across ERM’s Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) service. This role offers opportunities to work with a global sustainability consulting firm, access ERM’s ESG, HSE, Environmental & Social (E&S) and Technical experts, and gain experience in sustainable finance and carbon markets as part of the Singapore office’s regional finance sector offering.

ERM provides critical, confidential, and time-sensitive environmental risk advice on transactions, with a focus on quantifying risks and liabilities during the deal process. ERM’s M&A Transaction Advisory capabilities span the financial, commercial, industrial, and extractive sectors.

Responsibilities:

• Primary focus on client account development, sales, and delivery of ERM’s consulting services to create strategic value for clients.
• Grow ERM’s M&A Solutions across the service offerings, including ESG, HSE, E&S and / or Technical due diligence for M&A and project financing; carbon and energy due diligence; post-merger integration; management system gap analysis and benchmarking; sustainability assessments; and deal negotiation support.
• Actively develop commercial strategies to pursue and win new business opportunities with target clients aligned to ERM’s global strategy.
• Provide business value selling at senior client levels, identify and shape client needs for ERM services, and expand relationships through strategic consulting and quality service.
• Maintain awareness of industry deals and prioritize sales efforts toward high-potential opportunities.
• Manage capture efforts, developing proposals including written content, pricing, presentations, and contracting.
• Lead complex ESG, HSE, E&S and / or Technical due diligence engagements involving multi-site portfolios and multi-person teams locally, nationally, and globally.
• Advise clients on integrating ESG considerations into M&A transactions, including compliance with international standards such as the Equator Principles.
• Build, grow, and manage a high-performance team; mentor consultants; identify talent and develop responsibilities.
• Support the growth of ERM’s global M&A solutions and collaborate with colleagues worldwide; drive innovation to differentiate ERM in the market.
• Work in a collaborative, cross-functional team to build ERM’s global business and lead client and technical teams.
• Meet business financial targets, project budgets and schedules, client satisfaction/expectations, and contract requirements.

Job Requirements And Skills

• MSc in engineering, environmental or other science, or related discipline; professional registration preferred
• Minimum 15+ years of progressive experience, preferably in a consultancy, with relevant project exposure in EHS, ESG, E&S and / or Technical Due Diligence, particularly in private equity and development finance institution (DFI) contexts on both buyer and seller-side transactions
• Strong knowledge of environmental risk, environmental compliance, health & safety compliance, technical risks and / or remediation liabilities as they relate to transaction agreements
• Experience with site visits, inspections, and technical discussions related to asset integrity, operational performance, management systems, or business plans is advantageous
• In-depth understanding of the M&A industry in Singapore and the region, with existing relationships to leverage into new business
• Business acumen to understand risk and opportunities
• Demonstrable track record in delivering multimillion-dollar sales results and large portfolios
• Effective and empathetic leadership with strong written and spoken communication skills and ability to coordinate and lead teams
