Organization Overview:

Special Olympics International (SOI), headquartered in Washington, DC, is a global non-governmental organization founded on the belief that persons with intellectual disabilities learn, enjoy, and benefit from participation in year-round individual and team sports training and competition. Today, more than 6 million children and adults with intellectual disabilities participate in over 100,000 games and competitions in over 190 countries. The Asia Pacific Region consists of 35 countries from Japan, Afghanistan, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

We are looking for a ‘people’ person, someone who is energetic, enjoys problem solving and being helpful to others.

Description:

We are currently seeking a highly skilled individual with Customer Services experience . This role is new and unique so this person must have a strong desire to learn and develop skills and knowledge across a multitude of business areas including public relations, regulatory requirements, issues and risk management, external communications, donor management, and facilitator training. As a Community Relations Manager, you will need to exhibit strong critical thinking and be solutions-focused, given the role focuses on the management, questions and issues raised from both the wider public as well as multiple stakeholders with regard to our programming, activities and events. You will do this by working collaboratively and consultatively with colleagues across departments, countries, third party agencies, and the wider Special Olympics movement. You will use various different forms of communication, from email, phone calls and messaging services on a regular basis. You will play a vital role in developing a better understanding of our work in the wider world and in ensuring that our organisation is responsive to the needs of the people and communities we support.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee responses to queries from the public and Special Olympics community
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to respond to community members’ needs and support problem solving efforts
  • Monitor stakeholder satisfaction and ensure outreach and interactions with the general public adhere to Special Olympics standards
  • Support onboarding and orientation of all representatives of Special Olympics stakeholders
  • Support partnership development activations and events
  • Develop and execute plans to support events and activities that involve the Special Olympics community and the wider public
  • Collaborate with internal teams to develop communication collateral, including brochures, flyers, and website content
  • Support efforts to collect and analyze accurate information and data for all stakeholders in order to sustain their engagement and improve service efficiency

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Customer Services Manager or similar role
  • Clear understanding of branding and reputation management
  • Experienced in handling issues and managing potentially sensitive situations
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a related field
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work under pressure with patience and professionalism
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and in using database software
  • Practical knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Willingness to learn and takes initiative.
  • A team player who is enthused by working with others

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in Donor Management or Public Relations
  • Experience in project management
  • Previous experience working within the non-profit sector
  • A knowledge of disability issues or working with marginalized communities
