Location: Singapore

The Prax Group is a British multinational independent oil refining, storage, distribution and sales conglomerate dealing in crude oil, petroleum products and bio-fuels, headquartered in London, with regional offices in Houston and Singapore.

Our Singapore office covers Asia and the Middle East. We trade physical petroleum products and biofuels and also offer risk management solutions to our trusted partners in the region.

The Prax Group refines and blends physical oil to regional, market and customer specification in strategically located terminals and warehouses around the world. We operate efficient, safe, and high-quality logistics, moving oil by barge, truck, rail, pipeline and vessel in support of our core activities and for third parties.

We are now recruiting for a Risk Manager for our Singapore office.

Prax Group's Risk Function helps manage and control financial risk. As part of the Global Risk Team this role will help manage the risk of loss of earnings arising from changes in the value of the MEA portfolio driven by commodity price changes. The Risk Manager has primary responsibility for the identification, measurement, control and reporting of commodity price risk. This is a key role in supporting the London based Global Head of Risk in controlling and reporting risk within the trading business unit. The job holder will be involved in the improvement and/or development of risk measurement methodologies, processes and procedures whilst having close daily interaction with the front office and business units regionally and globally.

Key Responsibilities:

Create a strong risk presence and promote risk discussion on the trading floor, alongside building strong relationships in Singapore, London & Houston. Provide timely risk insights into the trading portfolio to traders and senior management Maintain and share strong knowledge of trading portfolios and keep abreast of developments in the Oil, products & LNG markets Quantitatively analyze new deals and identify embedded risks using simulation-based modelling, scenario analysis and other methods. Author new business reviews and strategic papers, and present the analysis to senior management. Work with relevant business teams to formulate new business and product frameworks and integrate changes into the current policies, processes and systems Lead analytical reviews and deliver improvements to market risk processes, models and methodologies Coach and oversee development and work of Market Risk Analysts as the team grows.

Skills and Experience:

Demonstrable market risk experience (5-10 years) gained within an energy/oil company, utility or trading house, with exposure to Asia & Middle East crude, products & LNG markets CFA, FRM or PRM preferred, but not a requirement Strong understanding of risk management and risk methodologies such as VaR, PaR, Stress Testing and Option valuation theory Insight into commodity risk management issues, requiring risk diagnostics and sophisticated analysis Strong mathematical and modelling skills required, including developed IT skills such as advanced Excel (VBA) or a programming language (Python/MATLAB). A strong independent mind in executing responsibilities alongside maintaining effective working relationships across the organization globally Confidence, presence, resilience and determination to succeed in a dynamic and demanding business environment Excellent attention to detail, with good problem solving and root cause identification skills Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact and communicate at all levels.
