Responsibilities :
Clinical Laboratory Testing:
Perform accurate and timely clinical laboratory tests. Resolve specimen discrepancies, document, and notify management if unresolved. Prepare workstation and instrumentation for testing. Handle specimens, resolve technical issues, and contact internal customers for clarifications. Operate instruments and perform routine testing and calculations. Address routine and non-routine assay problems.Quality Assurance & Control:
Ensure test result validity through quality control and assurance procedures. Conduct experiments for new calibrator/QC lots and summarize results for management review. Document quality control results and interpret according to established rules (e.g., Westgard rules). Take corrective actions for QC violations and instrument-related issues. Analyze proficiency testing samples as patient specimens.Reagents, Materials, and Supplies:
Receive, open, and place reagents/materials in service per SOPs. Label and document reagents, QC, and calibrator materials. Perform quality control practices (e.g., parallel testing, stability checks) to ensure reagent validity. Manage inventory control of supplies and reagents.Result Entry & Documentation:
Perform auto-verification and manual entry of results. Ensure peer review of manually entered data before release. Document test results and maintain an audit trail. Communicate any result reporting issues to lab management. Complete testing within expected turnaround times.Instrument Maintenance:
Perform regular instrument calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance per manufacturer and SOP requirements. Perform pipette calibrations and document as required. Notify management of instrument/equipment issues.Compliance & Training:
Follow regulatory guidelines and Covance SOPs. Maintain up-to-date training files and address any deficiencies. Ensure competency testing is completed and documented. Assist in training new employees and provide follow-up support. Attend department, mandatory, and other training sessions as required.Customer Relations & Communication:
Work with internal customers and external clients to resolve inquiries and ensure accurate data reporting. Research and respond to internal/external QA audit findings. Provide timely status updates on test results and sample retrieval/storage.Safety & Work Environment:
Follow safety policies and universal precautions at all times. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Minimize biohazard waste and clean workstation/materials daily.Additional Duties:
Take on additional responsibilities as they arise. Provide reports of activities to laboratory management upon request. Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements :
Bachelor’s degree in a biomedical or biological science from an accredited college or university. Minimum 2 years of working experience in a clinical laboratory. Good analytical skills with attention to details. Able to work independently as well as a good team player with initiative and adaptive to changes Good planning and organizing skills.
