**The area: Government Affairs and Public Policy**
Google takes its responsibilities seriously, including engaging with government and other stakeholders on important public policy challenges. The Government Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) team leads the company’s engagement with executive branch officials, legislators, regulators and third-parties in the formation of public policy. Working closely with Google leaders, GAPP seeks to identify key policy issues, listen carefully to others’ views and opinions, and distill and share the company’s perspective on those issues with external stakeholders. While we focus on challenges affecting the internet, our issue areas are increasingly broad and encompass many areas where public policy, business, and technology intersect.
**The role: Public Affairs Regional Institutions Senior Manager - Singapore**
As a member of Google’s Government Affairs and Public Policy team, you'll be part of a diverse global government affairs team, working across regions, product areas, and functions. You’ll combine creativity and intellectual excellence with the organizational skills to manage various campaigns, projects and initiatives. In this role, you’ll advocate for Google to bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception and direction. You're passionate about the opportunity to shape the future of how we use and build technology for everyone.
**Additional Role Description**:
In this role, you will lead and support Google’s efforts to highlight our contributions and investments in key regional policy discussions, and build our reputation as a constructive partner to key regional institutions. This will involve building strategies and narratives, deriving insights, building allies, and creating moments to bring our contribution to life in APAC.
You will highlight Google’s role in promoting responsible innovation, and the creation of helpful products, including AI and other emerging technologies. You will work closely with global and regional counterparts in Public Affairs with in-country Government Affairs and Public Policy teams, and with counterparts in Marketing, Communications, and other cross-functional teams.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead Google’s public affairs work with regional institutions to develop and execute a regional strategy, narrative, and specific actions to promote the contribution Google makes to the regional economy and society.
- Work with Google stakeholders from countries across the region, global counterparts, and others to ensure a coordinated approach to outreach efforts.
- Manage Google’s presence and policy programming at key regional/international convening of policymakers, influencers, and key opinion formers.
- Develop strategy to meaningfully engage policymakers and key opinion formers from across Asia-Pacific on matters affecting Google’s products, contribution to society, and responsible guidance.
- Lead polling, message testing, and measurement work across the region.
**Minimum qualifications**:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience working on public affairs, political communications, and/or technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, the private sector, or relevant industry associations.
**Preferred qualifications**:
- Experience working in Asia Pacific with international teams and a variety of cross-functional stakeholders, and executing strategies to deliver solutions.
- Experience advocating on core technology policy issues.
- Experience executing cross-functional projects in a rapidly changing environment.
- Knowledge of Internet technologies and the policy environments that surround them.
- Ability to identify opportunities and areas for improvement and operate in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills and attention to detail and business judgment.
