Contemporary Gallery Assistant

The Columns Gallery has an immediate opening for a part-time or full-time Gallery Assistant as well as internship opportunities.

**Responsibilities**
- Promptly and warmly welcoming guests to the gallery
- Taking initiative to create a working knowledge of our internal gallery functions to best fulfill the needs of the gallery
- Understanding the packing and transport process of artworks
- Contribute to the marketing and promotion of collections, exhibitions and activities
- Generating new online content for websites, social media and digital platforms, developing writing, communication and digital skills
- Preparing artworks for client or gallery viewings including installing artworks and preparing viewing space
- Carrying out exhibition-specific research and administrating events, making direct contact with artists and event organisers
- Supporting the director in providing opportunities for emerging artists to work with the gallery, curating new exhibitions and managing its existing collections

**Knowledge, Skills, Experience**

Essential
- Have a strong interest in the contemporary art market
- Excellent written communication skills
- Curious and keen to learn about the inner workings of a contemporary gallery
- Have thorough knowledge of Microsoft/Outlook and database programs.
- Knowledge of and experience in a range of social media and digital platforms
- Willingness to learn and get involved in a variety of tasks
- Highly organised and a motivated multi-tasker
- Ability to work to flexibly and under pressure
- Reliable and professional

Desirable
- A background in the arts (art history, art management, fine arts and higher art education)
- Prior experience within the Gallery or Fine Art Shipping industry is desirable, but not required
- Proficient in Photoshop and other graphics programmes

**Compensation estimation for this role is $8-10 SGD per hour.**
