Lead, direct and coach the change-over and operations team in organic synthesis plant (OSP), manufacturing active pharmaceutical ingredients (API), including developing and communicating objectives, setting priorities, development plans and managing performance.
- The ability to motivate colleagues within the other functions, promote teamwork and communicate clearly is critical to the success of this role.
- Key to the success of this position is innovative and strategic thinking to assure that we achieve the business goals.
- Actively encourage the involvement and co-operation of operations team with process team to enhance the teamwork culture.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead, direct and coach the team, including developing and communicating objectives, setting priorities, development plans and conducting performance reviews.
- Ensure the team is developed, encouraged and motivated to take full ownership of their roles and responsibilities while complying to the EHS and GMP guidelines.
- Ensure that the systems are in a constant state of regulatory compliance and inspection readiness.
- Ensure effective technical training of all the operations colleagues and compliance to SOPs and OJT.
- Maximize the productivity of the production change-over and operations via the implementation of effective training, value stream tools and performance management programs.
- Responsible for department budgeting for change-over and operation team for manpower, consumables and minor plant modifications.
- Drive continuous improvements in the change-over and operations team
- Create a learning environment where colleagues have the opportunity to grow and progress to increased levels of responsibility. Identify and develop future team leaders/supervisors.
- Maintain a good working relations with other departments in particular Engineering, QA and EHS to get good support.
- Participate in Global Best Practice and network teams.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal Stakeholders:
Process team - for technical support to meet production targets in cycle time and out-put

Supply Chain - for ensuring availability of raw materials for production and supply of finished products to the market, for qualification of alternate source of material/ consumables.

Quality - for production batch/ record release and production investigation/improvement

Engineering - for equipment readiness and production investigation/improvement

EHS - for performing safety review of changes in the manufacturing processes and in safety related investigations.

External Stakeholders: Equipment Vendors and raw material suppliers.

Resources Managed:
The position has 4 to 8 direct reports, including interns and approximately 30-40 indirect reports (technicians, operators and contract support).

EDUCATION

Degree/Diploma in Science or Engineering preferred.

EXPERIENCE

With 10-15 years of experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, of which at least 5 years of Direct Production Supervision experience.
- Required substantial experience of working in an API manufacturing environment.
- Ability to motivate colleagues within the other functions, promote teamwork and clear communication is critical
