**Job Description**:
**PURPOSE**
The Principal - Business Analyst (Finance) is responsible for delivering IM business analysis services in support of strategic programs and business initiatives for the marketing business unit. In this role, you will act as a product owner and drive the design of new enhancements of solutions and being responsible of adapting software functionality to continuous business improvement initiatives.
The Principal - Business Analyst (Finance) role is responsible of developing a structured concept to maintain a knowledge data base accessible to the internal IM Team.
The scope of work will vary in magnitude from working on discreet business processes, supporting complex enterprise-level programs, and running mid
- to large-sized projects.
**KEY TASKS**
**Performance & Delivery**
- Evaluate and put into practice improvement and business transformation initiatives
- Implement strategies to improve efficiency
- Analyse and re-engineer business processes, utilizing an understanding of business problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment, in support of strategic initiatives
- Communicate and collaborate with stakeholders to elicit detailed business requirements using a variety of techniques, including interviews, document analysis, requirements workshops, business process workflows, prototypes, storyboards, and use case scenarios
- Mentor and guide project team members
- Evaluate business requirements, decompose high-level information into functional requirements, validate that requirements are based on business needs rather than user preferences, reconcile conflicts, and then document the functional requirements
- Build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and with external vendors to achieve project goals
- Set and continuously manage customer expectations to ensure clarity of communication
- Conduct presentations of proposals or plan for company executives
**Compliance**
- Adherence to all Anglo American Group and Marketing policies and procedures, as well as observing proper standards of conduct relating to the role.
- Comply with Anglo American Security and Operating Standard
**Qualifications**:
**Formal qualifications**:
- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelor's degree or equivalent), ideally in a business degree (Computer Science, Management).
- Desirable: It would be advantageous to have a post graduate qualification in a relevant discipline OR a proven track record of extensive practical experience in a role and context of similar complexity
**Role-specific knowledge**:
- Physical commodity trading / metals & mining domain knowledge
- Good grasp of:
- Physical Trade Life Cycle (Front to Back): Good grasp of physical contract capture, scheduling (logistics) and solid understanding of invoicing (prepayment, provisional, final) and month end processes
- Financial Trade Life Cycle (Exchange and OTC)
- Additional advantageous skill: Solid SQL experience
- Driving improvements and implementation of the Finance function specific reporting tools across commodities
- Solid understanding of intercompany activities (transfer pricing)
- Functional knowledge of CTRM solutions (specific Aspect, systems knowledge - desirable)
- (Learn where required), configure, test & implement CTRM/ERP solutions
- SAP (FICO) knowledge is of advantage
- Proficiency in English
- Make decisions based on practicality, logic & a sense of what is right
- Ensure best practice approaches, based on experience are shared with colleagues and the wider team.
- Should be highly self-motivated, hardworking, an innovator, and proactive in finding solutions
- Creative, presentable, open-minded and willing to adapt and take on new challenges
