**Job Summary
The School of Positive Psychology is seeking a Content Specialist to create marketing content and increase traffic to our website and social media platforms. In this position, you will work with other content creators and our team to develop new and innovative ideas, producing ad assets for all our digital channels. Content must follow our in-house style guide and support our overall brand identity. You should have a strong eye for the most effective website design and a strong ear for well-written, SEO-driven content. Search engine optimization experience will be a strong plus. As a Content Specialist, you should also be an amazing editor that squash grammatical errors before the content goes live. Therefore, you should have strong writing and proofreading skills.
As your job consists of writing copy for the web or editing content from other writers, it also includes corralling cross-departmental teams to receive their input on that copy, and it may include reaching out to customers or other focus groups to figure out what entices them to visit our website.
Because websites should be living expressions of a company’s brand, website copy, including blogs and white papers, should be updated consistently. As a Content Specialist, you will need to monitor discussion posts on the blog. You may also need to manage comments from customers on social media.
This is a big job but someone has to do it. That someone is the Content Specialist.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Create content for our website and social media platforms
- Performing in-depth keyword research to determine high-volume keywords and content verticals
- Defining target audiences for different clients/projects and putting together instructions for the writers to ensure the content “speaks” to the right audience
- Creating and implementing efficient content production processes to ensure maximum productivity and consistently high content quality
- Collaborating with graphic designers to enhance the overall value of our content
- Cooperating with SEO experts to ensure the implementation of the best practices that will help our content consistently rank on the first page of Google
- Coordinating the activities of our content writing and editing teams
- Assist with proofreading or editing other content before publishing
- Follow brand and style guidelines
- Consulting with our Managers and providing useful suggestions on possible improvements to our content marketing scheme
**Requirements and Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or Marketing
- 3+ years of experience in the content business
- Portfolio of successful content projects
- Solid knowledge of content management systems, such as WordPress, Joomla etc
- Proficiency with project management software, such as Basecamp, Asana, Jira, etc.
- Complete understanding of the best SEO and content management practices
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and time-management skills
- Great communication skills, both in writing and verbal communication
- Good at proofreading for errors
- Extremely creative with an eye for layout and design
- A strong strategist that understands the why behind the copy
- Detailed and meticulous with great follow through
- Organized and efficient as they seek to marshal the resources to build a site, whether it’s a Web Developer, Videographer, or Digital Marketing Manager — or all three
- Leadership skills that make them good with people and patient while gaining consensus on the brand voice
- A good researcher, as they build content or look for ways to enhance the website
- Able to work within the frameworks of the various interdepartmental business processes while remaining highly creative
- A consumer of web content themselves; they know the medium and what techniques are most effective for engaging consumers
- Able to test the various website elements by seeking and gaining user feedback
- They must understand the user experience for their brand
- Can develop content for complex, efficient websites quickly
- They must be a good editor of written content
- Flexible while being a strong motivator of people and outcomes
- Great troubleshooting skills
- Good analyst skills because they must look at site analytics to determine what content is attracting more viewers and what is falling flat
- Able to handle deadline-driven pressure
