The Internet and digital platforms provide instant ways for people to connect, socialize and share information and their thoughts and feelings. At the same time, the spread of harmful online content gets easier, cheaper, and faster.
The Centre for Advanced Technologies in Online Safety (CATOS), based in the Institute of High Performance Computing, A*STAR, seeks to deliver social technology that benefits people (?tech for good?) and connects them better and at scale. It leverages multi-disciplinary research expertise in affective computing, social media analytics, multimedia forensics, language intelligence, and communication sciences, and aims to improve the ability of government?s, industry?s and people?s online safety by developing advanced tech solutions that solve pertinent problems of online harms.
One of the major outcomes of the Centre?s research programme is to produce an integrated platform of multimodal deep-tech solutions that equips different groups of users to address various online harms, including but not limited to preventing, detecting, and proactively containing deep fakes, non-factual claims, propaganda, extremism, hate speech, and malicious bots. These capabilities and advances will be projected internationally to help establish Singapore as a thought leader in this crucial area.
Secretariat duties for the programme open grant calls, including convening of pre-award and post-award evaluation panels
Executing policies and processes pertaining to the administration of the programme grant calls
Communication of the programme? policies and processes to public sector research performers
Liaising with government stakeholders and grantees on pre and post award matters
Regularly reviewing progress of awarded grants to ensure that KPIs, milestones and budget utilisation is on track
Building excellence in grants management through the development, refinement and implementation of best practices, within A*STAR and through working with other funding agencies
[Research Administration Manager] Integrative administration and reporting of the programme?s research through both deep tech research pillar and systems engineering pillar
[Research Administration Manager] Supporting the planning, analysis, scouting and manage research collaboration agreements (RCAs) with local and overseas academic partners for the Centre
Job Requirements
Good tertiary degree
Minimum 2 years? of relevant experience in public sector policy/planning/governance roles
Experience and/or keen interest in work related to governance and policy, especially in the research & development sector
Experience with public sector industry collaborations is an advantage.
Keen interest in cutting edge science & technology
Strong problem solving, analytical and systems thinking abilities
Resourceful and independent
Able to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
[Research Administration Manager] Keen interest in learning and acquiring both good grant management knowledge and hands-on research knowledge in the Centre?s space
