**About The Role**

Reporting into the Head of Legal, Technology & Procurement, the Specialist Legal (Procurement) is responsible for providing legal support for strategic and high value global procurement work, including technology procurement and social value and sustainability initiatives, and high-profile continuous improvement / transformation initiatives within BHP Legal.

Minimum five years’ experience working in a top-tier law firm or international in-house team.

Admitted to practice law in Australia.
- advising on complex, global procurement contracts, including technology procurement, social value and sustainability initiatives;
- proactively identifying legal risks and opportunities and advising clients accordingly;
- influencing and negotiating;
- operating independently, with evidence of having used significant judgement to manage legal risk; and
- developing and delivering relevant and up-to-date training and guidance materials.

Your accountabilities will include:

- Advising Procurement and GBS on strategic and high value global procurement work, including technology procurement and social value and sustainability initiatives.
- Establish relationships with Procurement and GBS teams and other relevant stakeholders and act as a key point of contact.
- Identify legal risks and advise on the management of procurement-related legal risks.
- Engage with other Legal teams to ensure consistent delivery of legal support to Procurement, GBS and other stakeholders.
- Contribute expertise to and execute on Legal, Procurement and GBS projects as required.
- Contribute to knowledge management activities as required, including training to Legal, Procurement, GBS and other stakeholders on key areas of expertise (e.g., contract law, global procurement arrangements and technology related legal risks).
