The objective for the role of Communication Specialist is to support/supplement the function of the Teaching Specialist. The activities are predominantly focuses on reading, writing, spelling and social/descriptive communication that is relevant to support the child’s academic journey.

This is a dedicated role, which is typically carried out individually with students, except for instances where students are introduced to social communication exercises.

The specialist is to manage and be responsible for the assessment and recommendation of strategies to help the child cope with the academic and social demands of school. The appointee reports to the Centre Manager/ Head Coach.

Duties & Responsibilities
- When assessing students, communication specialist do the following:

- Communicate with students to evaluate their level of reading, writing, spelling, speaking or comprehension difficulty. This include reviewing any report from relevant psychologist and speech therapist.
- Determine the extent of problems faced by the child by having the student complete basic reading and vocalizing tasks.
- Identify strategic options
- Create and carry out an individualized education plan
- Advise parents should the scope of work requires the support of Speech Therapist and highlight to management for further actions to refer the parents to certified Speech Therapist.
- When coaching students, communication specialist typically does the following:

- Teach students how to make sounds and improve their voices, mainly in the areas of phonics.
- Work with students to improve their ability to spell, read, write, express, and comprehend correctly
- Communication specialist must also complete administrative tasks, including keeping accurate records. Record initial students’ assessment, compare progress with initial education plan, any changes in a student’s condition or education plan, and, eventually, they complete a final evaluation when student meet their goals.
- Coaching parents to support students at home.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

**Salary**: $3,000.00 - $8,000.00 per month
