AVPN’s mission is to catalyse the movement toward a more strategic, collaborative, and outcome-focused approach to social investing, ensuring that resources are deployed as effectively as possible to address key social challenges facing Asia today and in the future.

AVPN is seeking a Director to lead its research & insights activities. This is a key role in the organisation that involves leading the curation and synthesis of evidence-based data and best practices across various social investment approaches, themes and sectors in Asia. The work is instrumental in ensuring that funders and resource providers have access to critical information required to make strategic decisions in their philanthropy and social investment. This includes helping them understand the landscape of needs, identify potential partners and intermediaries as well as connect with impact organisations aligned with their goals. You will work closely with colleagues across the organisation to ensure that the insights generated reflect ground realities and resonate with the target audience. You will need to be well-versed in various forms of data collection and analytics (including emerging digital methods) and be able to synthesise and package research findings in compelling ways, be it a published report, articles and blog posts, curated discussions and/or data visualisation. You will also need to be able to manage partners, consultants and internal team members in the delivery of each project. Through this work, you will gain valuable insights into the fast-growing social investment sector in Asia-Pacific. This position will be based in Singapore and the individual will report to the Chief Knowledge Officer.

**Responsibilities**:

- Drive AVPN’s research and impact management agenda, developing clear recommendations and insights that demonstrate expertise
- Translate insights in ways that resonate with audiences of different levels of experience through the AVPN Academy and external thought leadership platforms
- Manage and foster positive relationships with key research partners, funders and member organisations
- Proactively work across teams to ensure knowledge-sharing and collective learning
- Guide the team on the latest philanthropic and non-profit industry trends, and on innovations in research and evaluation methods and tools
- Ensure high standards of project execution, from design to delivery
- Effectively develop and use all the diverse skills and backgrounds of all team members

**Requirements**:

- Masters’ degree with at least 10 years of qualitative research experience in the social sector and/or related fields
- Ability to communicate complex information in a clear, concise, and compelling manner in English, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of philanthropy and social investment best practices and trends (e.g. collaborative philanthropy, impact investing, impact measurement and management, trust-based philanthropy, blended finance, etc.)
- Passion for social impact and a drive to make a positive impact on the world through sharing knowledge
- Experience working professionally with individuals and/or organisations across Asia-Pacific
- Ability to coach, align, and lead a lean team to achieve deliverables
- Detail-oriented and methodical in managing multiple stakeholders and timelines.
- Technologically savvy; experience with Salesforce and Microsoft Office products is preferred
