**What a Product Cost Analyst does at HP**:

- Provides overall cost intelligence including projections, trends, and drivers at the product and portfolio level to help drive business decisions. Ensures projections and costs are high confidence.
- Drives cost reduction initiatives.
- Performs and drives analysis of part, product and supply chain costs to provide visibility to cost drivers and opportunities for cost reduction.
- Manages business models and analyses to support proactive supply chain operation activities & projects.
- Clearly explains what changes have occurred between revisions of product costs and proactively identifies cost reduction opportunities.
- Presents information clearly and effectively to management.
- Creates, documents and improves cost tools and processes.
- Builds strong working relationships with R&D, Finance, and Operations partners and management.

**Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess**:

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Management, Engineering, Computer Sciences, or equivalent.
- Typically 2-4 years of experience. Open to fresh graduates as well.
- Business analytics and/or programming skills or advanced Microsoft Office skills, or knowledge of analytical tools, models or methods for making business decisions
- Ability to manage projects effectively.
- Ability to effectively communicate program plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options.
- Ability to get things done in a complex environment.
