**Research Team Lead (Sequencing)**

**Job Summary**

MiRXES Lab is currently looking for an experienced team leader for our NGS team to work on our various research projects.

**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Personally perform and train junior team members on NGS workflows such as nucleic acid extraction, library preparation and sequencing.
- Perform literature search, design, plan, lead and/or conduct experiments for the optimization and validation for sequencing projects.
- Operationalize new protocols developed in-house, from commercial kits or from literature.
- Be cross-trained in other high-throughput workflows, e.g. miRNA RT-qPCR based profiling workflows as a secondary portfolio.
- Proactive and service-oriented data collection and organization for downstream data analysis, including coordination between teams for clarity on requirements and status of sequencing projects to aid decision making.
- Maintain an excellent record of experimental data and sample handling.
- Write and/or support preparation of technical reports, SOPs and documents.
- Validate procedures for instrument testing, quality control and generate final reports.
- Provide experimental and technical support to internal and external stakeholders whenever necessary.
- Inventory maintenance, forecasting and procurement of consumables and reagents.
- Provide support for compliance of health and safety policies.
- Any additional duties as assigned.

**Desired Skills and Competencies**
- Degree or post-graduate degree in a related Science/Engineering discipline. Extensive NGS experience with more than 2 years in a leadership position may be substitute this requirement.
- At least 4 years of molecular biology experience, with at least 2 years of experience in NGS and/or RT-qPCR. NGS experience which includes sample preparation to sequencer loading is preferred.
- Results oriented, with a high level of integrity, dependability, and project management skills.
- In-depth technical troubleshooting skills with regards to workflows of primary responsibility.
- Decision-making based on accurate and timely analyses, if necessary, with incomplete datasets.
- Ability to plan ahead and provide insights and alternatives for contingency.
- Excellent verbal communication, interpersonal and team skills.
- Demonstrate ability and confidence to work independently, within a team and across functional teams.
- Thrive in fast-paced environment pushing boundaries on known methods and protocols.
