Senior Manager, Singapore

**Role location: Singapore Based **_(Hybrid) _

The Westpac Institutional Banking business is run as a global business within Westpac Banking Corporation, with Singapore branch (the Branch) overseeing the franchise from a Singapore and Asia perspective. The primary lines of businesses for Westpac Singapore branch (WBC SG) are Corporate and Institutional Banking, Global Transaction Services, Financial Markets and Treasury.

**How will I help?**

You will be responsible for providing quality compliance advisory and regulatory oversight on the Branch’s activities, which focuses on wholesale banking. You will also work collaboratively across the branch and Westpac network to:

- ensure all banking activities of the Branch comply with applicable regulatory requirements and internal policies;
- help develop, implement and monitor compliance programs, conduct risk assessments (where appropriate) and provide overall guidance to the all-branch business units on regulatory matters;
- help review the Business from a value chain perspective, including on-boarding due diligence, regulatory interpretation of relevant regulations, cross border advice, and provide sensible and appropriate solutions (where possible) and managing compliance and conduct risks from an end-to-end perspective;
- proactively challenge the Business in their risk management processes and proposals and escalate where appropriate;
- provide guidance and training to the Branch;
- Implement Business Obligations and Action Plans for WBC SG;
- foster genuine partnership and good teamwork ethos within the Compliance function (both country and Group) and with all functions of the Branch and Group and be able to demonstrate contribution to the achievement of WIB strategic priorities;
- collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies;
- ensure regulatory changes within the Branch are implemented within the timelines prescribed and escalate ahead of any possible slippages of implementation;
- investigate and report breaches of compliance and take appropriate actions as required;
- maintain and update the local and Group compliance policies and procedures, ensuring they remain current and effective;
- act as one of the contact points for regulatory communication, on-site inspections and co-ordinate responses to regulatory bodies where appropriate;
- lead by example and encourage others to behave in ways which support the development of a successful and desired business culture; and
- support the Head of Compliance, Singapore and Chief Compliance Officer, Westpac Institutional Bank and Treasury (WIB and Treasury) in the management of compliance risks across the Branch as well as the WIB and Treasury divisions.

**What do I need?**

This role is suitable for someone with a minimum of bachelor’s degree in law, finance or equivalent discipline with at least five (5) years of experience in similar compliance or legal/regulatory roles. You will likely have:

- experience in dealing with regulatory bodies and handling of audit and inspections would be highly regarded
- highest level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to ethical standards.
- strong communications and interpersonal skills, with ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment and work collaboratively across departments
- strong understanding of both internal business drivers and industry dynamics
- strong customer focus
- knowledge of relevant legal and regulatory environments and experience in managing implications
