Director, Legal Apac

An exciting Director, Legal APAC (Contract) role has been made available at Bridge Data Centres. Reporting to the Group General Counsel, this role is for an experienced senior lawyer (10+PQE) adept at providing legal advice to leaders, executive and board. About the Director, Legal APAC (Contract) role: In this business critical role, you will be responsible for managing the provision of strategic, high quality timely and cost-effective legal services.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Support HQ and local management on existing and new M&A projects, construction projects, tenders and other commercial initiatives in the region
- Independently structure, review, negotiate and draft a wide range of significant contracts, including customer colocation service agreements, lease agreements, consultancy agreements and other general commercial contracts with varying levels of complexity
- Manage and supervise in-house legal teams in Malaysia and India and work closely with the country stakeholders to provide legal and regulatory support for business operations and ongoing projects
- Lead and develop processes and systems to improve efficiency and quality of services; engage and manage external lawyers as required
- Lead transactional drafting and negotiation responsibilities on deals and provide ongoing legal advice to senior executives and business team members, advise business areas on legal risk and corporate governance
- Manage the provision of legal services and deliver high quality, commercially focused, cost effective legal services
- Execute for results and help deliver sustainable value to stakeholders
- Develop and inhouse and external capability
- Co-ordinate and support HQ initiated activities e.g. due diligence requests, audits, adhoc requests to meet regulatory reporting.

To succeed in the Director, Legal APAC role, you must possess significant exposure to a wide range of law including commercial and contract law; company law, mergers and acquisitions; regulatory; dispute resolution; privacy; IT; procurement; intellectual property; anti-bribery; sanctions; and competition law.

**Key Requirements**:

- Experience in inhouse legal team ideally in an IT, data centre, telecommunications, or technology business
- Experience in operating in key jurisdictions including; (a) Singapore, Hong Kong or India; (b) mainland China (ideally); and (c) Indonesia (ideally)
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience in building relationships of trust and influencing outcomes across a range of stakeholders
- Business judgement with the ability to develop pragmatic solutions to challenging business issues. This includes confidence to constructively give full and frank advice with a focus on risk management (not risk minimization)
- Internal and external negotiation skills
- Strong customer focus and ability to develop and maintain internal and external relationships
- Proven ability to act independently and provide commercially focused legal advice with a high degree of integrity
- Proven ability to review, draft and edit documents
- Good command in both spoken and written English, and Chinese (Mandarin) would be an advantage to as to provide inhouse support on documentation and challenges with mainland China business partner
