- Strives for innovation through exploration in new materials, construction methodologies and delivery process. The SP Director stays abreast of changes and innovations in the industry.
- Mentors all levels of the office for excellence in design delivery. SP Directors are advanced applied design leads within the office organization managing highly complex projects and demanding clients while mentoring the studio staff on technical delivery, project management and QA/QC.
- Knowledge share and documentation. Through collaboration with Technical Directors, the SP Directors participate in and lead regular training sessions and create office bulletins documenting lessons learned and clarifications to inform better work.
- Participates in packaging each project for close-out as necessary to assist with post-occupancy analysis, design and technical debrief and hand-off of cohesive marketing content.

**Implementation and Follow-Through**
- Mentorship and Quality Control through the lifetime of the project. Starting at project kick-off, the SP Director’s role consists of evaluation of project opportunities and challenges, establishing the project schedule with QAQC reviews, and generally setting out the project for success with the support of the Studio and Technical Directors.
- Develops Project Delivery Strategy in coordination with BIM manager. The SP Director will determine the delivery type for the interments of service weighing project budget, complexity and professional risk.
- Construction Specialist. The SP Director leads the project teams during the construction phase either directly or provide regular oversight on projects in construction in their studio.
- Develops knowledge of project realization from concept to completion via the implementation of technical and design lead input. Participates in research around due diligence, construction innovation, quality control and successful integration of new technologies.

**Collaboration & Culture**
- Actively leads project process at all phases, establishing regular design and technical reviews between teams and leadership.
- Maintains direct communication between creative and technical leads to establish workflow and action steps specific to their projects. Leads Studio dialogue and models healthy communication to ensure the work reflects a diverse and interdisciplinary process.
- Guides and mentors team on design, delivery and representation to support smooth workflow and advance RIOS’ design vision and deliverables.
- Encourage inclusivity and experimentation in problem-solving to ensure that the work reflects a diverse and interdisciplinary process.
- Maintains acute awareness of and engagement in the design industry and helps position a unique voice for RIOS and help inform how we practice in the most relevant, meaningful and innovative ways.
