**The Role**

Reporting to the Regional Chief Data Officer, you will drive the development, implementation, standardization and continuous enhancement of the Data Governance operational activities across SMBC APAC. You will work with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that data is managed in a secure, compliant, and ethical manner.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for setting up and building a team in Data Governance Office to oversee Governance and Data Management in the APAC region.
- Review and optimize Data Governance and Data Management framework and strategies in accordance with Head Office policies and regulations, in collaboration with Head Office departments and DMOs in other regions.
- Drive the development and adoption of Regional Data Governance and Data Management frameworks and standards across different branches in APAC
- Promote good data management culture and discipline e.g., on data privacy & security
- Oversee the data quality issue management and enhancement/resolution of the relevant process
- Collaborate with business and technology units to ensure Data Governance requirements are met

**Job Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, computer science or a related field
- Min. 10 years of experience data governance in the banking sector or bank related project experiences with a consulting firm
- Proven track record of developing and implementing data governance programs
- Strong understanding and knowledge of Data Governance and Data Management framework and philosophies as defined in the DMBOK (Data Management Body of Knowledge).
- Good understanding of data-related technologies e.g., ETL, data warehousing and metadata etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skill, ability Able to work across different functions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good project management and facilitation skill
