**Ship Manager**

Responsible as the Primary point of contact for the Master and the vessel’s personnel and the overall management, monitoring of the safe and efficient operations of all assigned vessels and ensure effective corrective and preventative actions in line with the Company’s Integrated Management System.

Responsible for ensuring that all trading and statutory certificates remain valid, vessels maintain and comply with all relevant Regulations, Codes and Practices.

Accountable for ensuring stores, spares and services are supplied to the vessels in line with approved budgets.

Assist with any marine emergency involving any vessel managed by the Company.

Monitor and manage the vessel budgets.

Execute Operating Budgets under the direction of Fleet Manager

Investigate significant events and devise solutions and strategies to prevent these from reoccurring.

Responsible for monitoring and verifying the close-out action of all recorded events in the Company’s reporting system, particularly any outstanding Condition of Class, by the due date.

Provide resources and other support required to facilitate the effective and timely close-out of all recorded events.

Undertake a ship inspection for each vessel under their management.

Ensure that the assigned vessels are maintained in such a standard as to be always prepared for any third-party inspection.

Continually review all facets of shipboard vessel maintenance repair programs, fabric, preventative or any unscheduled maintenance.

Prepare specifications for the dry docking and running repairs, supervise dry docking, running repairs and verify accounts on completion under Client and Fleet Manager’s directions.

Engage in the process for any new vessel acquisition into the fleet or decommissioning vessels from the fleet.

Consult with the Group Training Manager to identify existing and future crew training requirements.

Approve/endorse permits of work if required from the managed vessels.

Provide inputs to the Technical team on long term solutions to the Management on various ongoing and upcoming issues affecting Group vessel performance.

**Requirements**:
Class 1 Engine Certificate of Competency

Sailing experience as Chief Engineer on MR or larger tankers

At least 5 years sea-going experience in a Senior role on tankers

Minimum of 2 years shore-based experience and carrying out tasks mentioned above

Excellent Interpersonal, time Management and Organizational skills

Good report writing skills

High level of computer literacy

Familiar with vessel performance, fuel efficiency and energy saving device requirements
