Asia Research and Engagement (ARE) is searching for a Policy Engagement Manager to join our team in Singapore.

ARE works with leading institutional investors to engage companies across the region. This work, known in the investment industry as active ownership or stewardship, seeks to influence companies to allocate capital and manage operations in a way that supports sustainable development. We work mainly in energy transition, sustainable protein and sustainable real estate and have a particular focus on climate change.

ARE is one of a kind. We are dedicated to making a difference. Our purpose is to advocate for sustainability and bring the voice of investors to Asia’s sustainable development challenges. Our collaborative engagement programmes are investor-backed and operate across the region. There needs to be more frequent dialogue with greater strategic depth between investors and companies on sustainable development and climate change. To address this gap, we use constructive dialogue, building conviction for change and supporting escalation of investor concerns where warranted.

**Requirements**:
Minimum 5 years working experience in regulatory compliance, investment, finance, sustainability, or public affairs or other relevant sector with the appropriate skill set.

A background in legal or advocacy is viewed favourably

Experience dealing with regulators related to sustainable/ESG investing in investment and banking sectors

Knowledge of the regulatory context and planned regulatory developments in Asia related to sustainable/ESG investing and their impacts on finance, investing, business, or power

Strong communication skills and experience in interacting with various stakeholders including industry bodies

Relevant academic background such as, but not limited to economics, finance, business, or environmental management

Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with ability to communicate and influence and direct at different levels

A good understanding of how environmental concerns relate to business risks and opportunities

**Duties and Responsibilities**

Act as the main point of contact for regulators banking, capital market, and power regulators

Build and maintain regulatory relationships for ARE and lead regulatory engagement and advocacy

Lead regulatory outreach coordinating between institutional investors and policy setters

Work closely with the Directors to structure and monitor the regulatory program andprocesses
