B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC, or other related engineering degree, OR 10+ years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Amazon Web Services is seeking a talented Controls Engineering Manager to become part of a world class engineering team to lead the Controls design of our Data Centers across our rapidly expanding Asia Pacific (APAC) portfolio.

You must be able to lead a small international team of controls engineers and depend on others to accomplish the required work. As a controls engineer at Amazon you will be working with other internal groups as well as external groups including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, consultants and contractors. Amazon has a global presence and, following COVID travel restrictions, a 25% travel will be expected as part of this role. Projects will be throughout the region and a degree of international travel and support will be necessary.

The Data Center Controls Engineer will be responsible for the following:

- Work with internal teams to understand and respond to evolving user requirements.
- Lead a team of data center controls engineers across APAC.
- Own the controls engineering designs in collaboration with other disciplines to create a coordinated construction document set.
- Understanding of: electrical diagrams, control diagrams, BMS, EPMS, building operations, control circuits and industrial HVAC.
- Ability to lead external consultant to deliver project specifications to AWS standards and challenge them technically.
- Creation of designs which meet or exceed our quality requirements and fall within our budgetary requirements.
- Work with regional vendors and manufacturers to specify the appropriate controls equipment.
- Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to, and during construction phases.
- Development of drawings for control panels, power distribution, junction boxes included in the drawings are the general arrangement, internal layout, schematics and interconnection and wire diagrams.
- Development of logic diagrams in the International Automation format for complex logic devices such as Programmable Logical Controller and Distributed Control System.
- Preparation of cable tray routing plans and schedules.
- Provide technical assistance as needed to internal customers.
- Coordinate work internally within the department and externally with other departments to ensure on-time completion of projects within budget.
- Review and approval of equipment submittals.
- Work with commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical systems.
- Ability to work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions.
- Travel to sites for site review and work with onsite controls deployment engineers, as well as provide engineering evaluations, controls system startup assistance as needed.
- Be a leader within the global group as well as within internal and external teams that support Amazon’s data centers.
- Having fun and offering creative, out of the box solutions.
