**Head of Technology - become part of the founding team at a well-funded startup with global ambitions**
Neso Brands has set out to become the leading house of consumer brands in the eyewear industry. We have massive global ambitions and are backed by the partners to help make the ambitions come true. We are a new entrant in the eyewear space where we will source, invest in and partner with the most ambitious entrepreneurs on a global scale. Together with the founders and with the combined strength of our team, technology and capital we will help scale the ventures internationally. We recently announced funding of more than USD 100 million to get us started on acquiring and investing in companies and are now building out the team to make it happen.
**The Role**
Eyewear to date has been an extremely traditional industry with large incumbents, but is now ripe for a tech-enabled global transformation. With general e-commerce adoption skyrocketing and technologies such as AR and AI becoming more mature, the time has come for nimble eyewear brands to capitalise on these trends and capture market share. Neso Brands will house these brands and enable a quicker global roll-out by giving the brands access to shared resources. By leveraging joint resources across analytics, omnichannel tech, supply chain, and distribution, a network effect within the group is created with every new brand joining.
Neso Brands and Lenskart recently announced its first brand investment as the leading Japanese DTC eyewear brand Owndaysbecame part of the group. Owndays is a market leader in several Southeast Asian countries and has a network of more than 400 stores across 13 countries. Apart from Owndays, its software investments include TangoEye, an omnichannel analytics startup, and GeoIQ, a predictive data startup.
As Neso Brands embarks on this journey of transforming the way people see and experience the world, they’re looking to bring on board a Head of Technology reporting to the CEO. While this role will evolve over time as Neso Brands acquires and partners with brands to form their portfolio, in summary the Head of Technology will be tasked with leading tech and engineering, playing a key role in the senior leadership team and building out world-class omnichannel experiences for consumers around the world.
With Neso Brands’ strategy of investing in fast-growing companies, the Head of Technology will have her/his hands deep into the strategy and execution of each of the acquired businesses, partnering with portfolio company tech teams. This will include supporting the assessment of new deals, identification of tech-related value creation opportunities in the portfolio, leading digital transformations, designing tech roadmaps, upgrading tech capabilities across the portfolio, and team building.
**Responsibilities**
- As and where appropriate, support tech due diligence efforts in investments.
- Partner with the CTOs and tech teams on technical roadmap, team building, and most importantly the building of industry leading omnichannel experiences.
- Build a central tech and engineering centre of excellence at Neso Brands that will provide support across the entire portfolio of brands.
- Serve as an integral part of the leadership team at Neso Brands.
**Experience and background**
Technical Ability:
- Computer science / engineering graduate
Architecturally-minded engineering leader
Exposure to omnichannel environments
Expertise in operating on differing infrastructure models with strong exposure to micro service architecture
Expertise in leading back-end, front-end, integrations and operations
Exposure to the development and localization of products at international scale
Expertise in leveraging data and analytics in consumer propositions to drive personalisation
**Team and Leadership**:
- The Head of Technology will bring a strong understanding of business requirements and budgeting processes to align with company strategy. They will be able to provide technical leadership to a highly technical team. Bring experience of building, leading, and scaling engineering and development teams, and will be able to hire and grow best-in-class talent.
- The Head of Technology will be experienced in setting technical product vision, taking ownership of tech-related decision-making, and ensuring high levels of communication and connectivity between product and tech. Experience of establishing software development practices and processes that are focussed on measurement, leveraging data to drive quick and focussed decisions.
