The Electrical Metrology Laboratory of the National Metrology Centre (NMC) is seeking a Scientist to contribute to our research project involving development of graphene-based quantum resistance standard. This project sits at the heart of our quantum metrology programme to develop practical primary measurement standards to realise the SI units and to support the precision measurement needs in quantum technology.

This project seeks to progress beyond state-of-the-art by establishing stable graphene cryoelectronic devices tailored to operate under relaxed conditions of higher temperature and lower magnetic field for the reproduction of the quantum Hall resistance (QHR) beyond the current technology and establish their operational margins. You will work with collaborating researchers in the design and fabrication of graphene devices with optimised parameters and operation stability under relaxed conditions for regular usage. You will design and implement low-temperature experiments for high precision characterisation and performance validation of the graphene devices, and establish standard realization procedure to institute limits of achievable relative uncertainty for the graphene devices under relaxed experimental requirements.

**Job Requirements**:

- PhD degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- With knowledge in graphene fabrication, precision electrical measurements, computer programming for instrument control or statistical techniques
- Relevant experience such as precision electrical measurements, cryogenic experimentation, quantum technology, graphene material and devices would be advantageous.
- Possess good writing and communication skills, and be able to work independently.
- Self-motivated, and resourceful
