Singapore US Federal Transit Administration Full time

**Duties**:
**As a Senior Accident Investigator, you will**:

- Direct other FTA staff or contract team members and act as a party member to NTSB led investigations.
- Support planning activities and assess accident data to determine safety trends and recommend safety recommendations.
- Be responsible for the review of transit operations, safety measures, and/or mechanical systems.
- Work closely with industry and other government agencies to promote transit safety and to develop and recommend policies and procedures governing transit accident and incident investigations.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- **SELECTIVE SERVICE**: Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for the Selective Service.
- **GOVERNMENT TRAVEL CARD**: This position involves travel. A government contractor-issued travel card will be issued and must be retained for official business only.
- **REMOTE WORK**:This position may be eligible for remote work, which does not require reporting to the agency worksite location on a regular basis. If selected for a remote work location, you will be required to sign a remote work agreement detailing agency remote work policy requirements, working conditions, and expectations for the position.
- **PCS/RELOCATION/RECRUITMENT**: Permanent Change of Station (PCS), Relocation, and Recruitment Incentive authorization varies by position/selection and a service agreement may be required.
- **PROBATIONARY PERIOD**: You must complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).
- **TIME-IN-GRADE**:Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the competitive or excepted service in the executive branch to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions contained in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.
- **DEU REQUIREMENTS**: Applicants selected under delegated examining procedures may be required to successfully complete a one-year probationary period (unless already completed).

**Qualifications**:
To meet the minimum qualifications for this position, you must meet the specialized experience requirements.

**To qualify for the Grade 14**, you must have at least one year of experience equal or equivalent to the GS-13, it must include:

- **Experience using principles, concepts, theories and practices of transit operations, transit accident investigation and transit safety to conduct and manage investigations of transit safety events.**:

- **Experience managing a transit department and reporting to senior management concerning operational and safety issues.**:

- **Experience writing and presenting operating rules, safety rules, standard operating procedures, reports of accident investigations and safety studies.**

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs)**:Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

- **Transportation**:Knowledge of principles and methods for moving people or goods by air, rail, sea, or road, including costs and limits.
- **Accident Investigation**:Knowledge of guidelines, regulations, and procedures associated with an accident investigation including preservation of accident scene, root cause analysis, and evidence detection and handling.
- **Oral and Written Communication**:Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
