**WHAT WE CAN ACHIEVE TOGETHER**:
This policy internship would provide a platform for a talented and motivated individual to gain hands-on experience in policy analysis and development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
With guidance and support from Asia Pacific Nature-based Solutions Program Coordinator, the intern will be responsible for:
- Conducting in-depth research on the policy landscape for Blue Carbon in the Asia Pacific region.
- Validating, expanding on and refining as needed a series of common policy challenges and gaps related to Blue Carbon in the Asia Pacific region (already identified through TNC’s own experience with science, blue carbon project development and policy engagement across the region).
- Analyzing existing policies and initiatives in selected countries to assess their effectiveness in addressing the common policy challenges and gaps to high-quality blue carbon project development identified.
- Working with the TNC team to develop recommendations and best practices for policy interventions to enhance Blue Carbon conservation and management in the region.
- Developing a first draft of a policy brief that synthesizes research findings and provides actionable recommendations for policymakers.
**WE'RE LOOKING FOR YOU**:
The policy internship will involve the following activities:
a. Literature Review:
- Conduct an extensive literature review on Blue Carbon (with a focus on the Asia Pacific), including scientific publications, policy documents, and relevant reports.
- Identify key stakeholders, organizations, and initiatives working on Blue Carbon in the Asia Pacific region.
b. Research and Analysis:
- Review, validate and expand on common policy challenges, gaps, and barriers to high-quality blue carbon project development identified by TNC.
- Examine existing policies, strategies, and initiatives in selected countries to evaluate their strengths and weaknesses.
c. Stakeholder Consultations:
- With support from the supervisor, conduct interviews with TNC staff and some external stakeholders.
d. Policy Recommendations:
- Work with the TNC team to develop policy recommendations to address common challenges and gaps related to Blue Carbon conservation and management.
e. Policy Brief:
- Develop a first draft of a comprehensive policy brief that synthesizes research findings, analysis, and recommendations.
Deliverables
The intern is expected to deliver the following:
- Submit a research report summarizing the findings from the literature review, stakeholder consultations, and policy analysis.

Duration and Reporting
The student would report directly to the Asia Pacific Nature-based Solutions Program Coordinator and would primarily work remotely. The student with be provided with clear guidance on each activity and provide literature, case studies and other knowledge products that have been developed by TNC and partners.
