M&e Design Engineer

The M&E Design Engineer is part of the engineering team that is responsible for the design, development and deployment of all data centre projects for the company. The design engineer is responsible for the production and documentation of all M&E drawings. This role will provide you the opportunity to be certified as a PE, LEW and to be acrredited with institutional membership: SCEM, LEED AP, GreenMark, PMP, and Uptime Institute Accredited Tiered Design (ATD) certifications. This role reports to the Vice President Engineering Design and is based in our office in Singapore.

**The Job Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for the M&E design of new DC build and review of electrical technical specifications & facilities for existing DCs working closely with the Business Development, Operations and Marketing teams.
- Technical input in all consulting and construction tenders
- Jointly responsible for facilitating project meetings with MEP consultants and contractors to ensure our design requirements are met
- Work closely with the Construction and Design teams throughout the build phase to ensure operational requirements are met and the buildings are fully ready for operations when turned over to the Operations Engineers Team. This includes participation in the commissioning (stages 1 through 5) for new and retrofitted data centres
- Work closely with the Operations team and intra-department to identify required engineering changes in infrastructure systems, define project scope, prioritize projects, schedule, and execute these projects
- Assist with the development and review of operational standards, sequences of operation (SOO), and methods of procedures (MOP) for consistency and maximum system reliability
- Manage, own and monitor related vendor activities, ensuring work activities meet scope of work and follow established procedures
- Contribute with the team to finding creative solutions to support reduction of operational costs and maximization of infrastructure utilization
- Assist and have input in the preparation of facility operations post-incident reports, root cause analysis, and corrective action plans
- Jointly oversee automation system interfaces to ensure best possible data centre performance is maintained
- Help maintain and support reporting to ensure the data centre site(s) are compliant with company standards, government safety and environmental requirements
- Keep up-to-date on new data centre technology, with emphasis on energy/carbon reduction and sustainability initiatives

**The Requirements**:

- Polytechnic Diploma or Bachelor degree in Electrical/Mechanical with minor in Electronics and/or Computer Engineering
- 2+ years’ experience in critical facilities/data centre industry specialising in electrical engineering design, project, procurement and contract management (fresh graduates will be considered at entry level on merit)
- Experienced in using AutoCAD, Navisworks in electrical system schematic design, working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (word, excel, project, visio)
- Ability to work in a fast paced, hands-on, start-up environment
- Ability to know, how and what decisions and work can be made with mínimal direction
- High-level of knowledge and understanding of data centre power and cooling infrastructure is a plus
- Knowledge of industry standards, building codes and safety standards
- Proven track record in delivering projects timely
- Strong trouble shooting and analytical skills
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills are required to enable an effective interface with customers and stakeholders
- Must be able to work on a self-initiated environment and able to work extended hours when required
- Expected 25% international travel to support projects
