Deck Supervisor

Overall Job Purpose:
Responsible for all onboard lifting, rigging, slinging, storage, housekeeping and deck operations are carried out safely and effectively by his team, as well as for marine deck activities and maintenance as instructed by Cargo Technician and/ or Cargo Supervisor.

Core Responsibilities:
Organize and supervise deck work and maintenance, ensuring that planned deck work is carried out as instructed, ensuring that all deck equipment, tools, stores, and workshops are in good order.

Maintain an inventory of paints, ropes, tools, maintenance equipment and accessories, straps, shackles, hoists and all lifting gear in use (in accordance with the Code of Color), reporting any deficiencies or requirements to the Cargo Supervisor / Marine Superintendent / Cargo Technician (when delegated by Supv/Supt).

Maintain communication with other departments regarding work priorities and operational requirements to minimize delay, ensuring to understand all requirements and guidelines related to his job and responsibilities, and instruction/ standing order by the Cargo Supervisor and Superintendent. Carry out work in a safe and

responsible manner.

Ensure that all marine related operations are executed within the parameters established by regulatory authorities, MODEC’s HSSE Policies and Procedures, MODEC’s Marine Operations Manual, IMO, ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS and Local Labor requirements.

To participate in effective mooring / unmooring operations for tandem mooring and STS transfers. Follow

guidance of Cargo Supervisor and Marine Superintendent and Cargo Technician (when delegated by Supv/Supt).

Ensure that all lifting gear is kept in proper place and keep ready for use, as well as the lubrication of lifting gear is carried out as required.

Check and keep records of life saving safety equipment, provide support in preventive maintenance task execution, as well as participate in 3rd party maintenances.

Participate in the effective monitoring, audit and review of management systems and procedures.

Clearly understands MODEC HSSE policies, as well as the HSSE Roles and Responsibilities, understand the emergency response duties.

Perform Emergency Response Role as per prescribed on the Station Bill by demonstrating competence during Emergency Response drills and exercises.

Contribute to the health and safety of the working environment by monitoring and maintaining Pollution Control Equipment.

Take positive action to stop hazards and unsafe behaviors by making sure that potential and actual incidents are reported to the relevant supervisor, as well as report defects immediately and effectively.

Ensure that all personnel in the deck crew carry out their work in a safe and responsible manner.

Supervise all deck and crane operations on the installation in a safe and efficient manner.

Adhere to requirements and provisions of the MODEC management systems.

Liaise with Safety Technician and Cargo Supervisor / Marine Superintendent / Cargo Technician (when delegated by Supv/Supt).

Demonstrate ownership of own training requirements and proactively arrange training to be done/renewed in time as per MODEC Integrated Management System.

Effectively works on local personnel development plan as per management guidance.

HSSE: Act in compliance with the corporate HSSEQ Management System Policy, the MODEC Life Saving Rules, and the policies, guides, process standards and work instructions available in the Integrated Management System (IMS).Act to promote the preservation of the environment, the health and occupational safety (personnel and their team),the safety of processes, and the preservation of assets in their scale of responsibility.

Support team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices and lead this as a senior employee.

Actively participate and/or contribute toward defect elimination/system ownership focus groups, with a view to provide onshore teams with first-hand knowledge of the offshore facility.

Be familiar with the Facility’s plant and machinery and leading by example ensure their safe operation and maintenance.
