Legal Counsel

**About the role**

This full-time role, reporting to the Head of Legal - Asia Pacific, will be responsible for supporting abrdn's business in APAC. The purpose of the Asia Pacific Legal team is to work closely with the business to deliver high quality legal service to abrdn in an efficient and effective manner, including investigating and implementing technological and/or self-service solutions as appropriate.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Report to and work closely with the Head of Legal, Asia-Pacific to provide legal support for the activities in the region, primarily in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Australia
- Primary legal contact for the consideration and review of legal issues arising from business activities and projects and escalate/resolve issues identified with internal stakeholders and where necessary and appropriate, external legal advisers.
- Work with internal stakeholders to identify and manage risks and create solutions
- Draft, review and negotiate agreements such as third party and outsourcing contracts, including technology-related agreements
- Managing external counsels when required
- Collaborate with the wider Legal team globally on group-wide initiatives
- To provide corporate secretarial support and corporate governance matters

**Skills and experience**
- Degree in Law, and have passed a Bar Exam
- Singapore, Malaysia Hong Kong or Australia qualified lawyer with at least 4 years' PQE
- Knowledge and experience in financial industry. Experience in asset management industry would be an advantage.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of risk management
- Familiarity with technology transactional matters and understanding of technology would be an advantage.
- Interest in the developing fintech environment and regulatory landscape
- Strong command of English and Chinese (spoken and written).
- Able to adapt with organization changes
