Divisional Accounting/finance Manager for Asia

**Mission/Authority**

Young Life Asia Pacific seeks to reach kids with the Gospel of Jesus Christ in over eighteen countries. This position will serve on the Asia Pacific Service Team, providing oversight and management of accounting and finance for Young Life APAC. Ongoing responsibilities will include development and oversight of financial systems and controls, finance related policies and procedures, budgets and financial analysis/reporting, regulatory compliance, treasury, banking and finance organization professional development. Divisional accounting staff are supervised by country leaders, so this position will lead through influence rather than authority.

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES**:
**Spiritual Leadership**
- Lead in a manner reflecting Young Life’s commitment for every staff person and volunteer to minister as a servant of God whose primary responsibility is proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

**Leadership of APAC Accounting and Finance**

**_Recruit & Hire_**:

- Ensure sufficient human resources are in place to effectively and efficiently support APAC accounting needs.
- Assist divisional leadership in filling open accounting positions, including travel to local field offices to conduct onboarding and training of new accounting staff.

**_Train & Supervise_**:

- Provide healthy oversight through scheduled interactions, ongoing coaching, monthly financial reviews and periodic face to face on-site visits.
- Provide ongoing training and overall development opportunities of all APAC accounting and finance staff.
- Support and assist divisional staff with accounting or financial issues arising within a country or region, including discernment of appropriate measures.
- In collaboration with Young Life Human Resources address any disciplinary matters in a timely and appropriate manner.

**Leadership of APAC Accounting & Finance Functions**

Work with divisional and global leadership, including the Director of International Accounting, the Director of Accounting Operations and the Associate Director of FS Customer Care, to ensure the continued strength and sustainability of field accounting and financial functions, including standardized processes, internal controls, compliance with internal and external regulations, and management of external resources and relationships.

**_Standardized Processes:_**
- Review and track monthly financial submissions from each country and prepare a status update to ensure each country has complied with necessary reporting requirements to receive wires.
- Check month-end balances in all divisional accounts and submit any transfer requests necessary by standard monthly deadlines.
- Manage funding allocations administered at the divisional level, including allocation of operating and camp funds sufficient to support ministry growth in each region.
- Oversee financial integration when new legal entities are formed or existing countries are restructured, including completion of the Finance New Entity Checklist.

**_Internal Controls:_**
- Continue development of financial controls over the use and movement of cash, direct bank transfers, wires, checks, debit and credit cards, mobile money, etc..
- Ensure measures are in place for the safeguarding of non-cash assets, including computers or other equipment.
- Discern, implement, and maintain proper measures to ensure adequate separation of accounting and financial duties exists in each country.

**_Internal & External Compliance:_**
- In collaboration with Young Life Legal, catalog necessary corporate rules, regulations and filings in each country, maintain contact with associated regulatory agencies and ensure timely and accurate compliance with all requirements.
- Work with Young Life’s Internal Audit department to develop a roadmap of audits and peer reviews.

**_External Resource Management:_**
- Ensure necessary external capabilities are in place. Assist country leadership in assessing, interviewing and maintaining external relationships, including banks, accounting firms and payroll providers.
- Assist country leadership in the selection and appointment of external auditors for annual audits for statutory compliance and as part of financial oversight.

**Leadership of APAC Accounting & Financial Intelligence**

In collaboration with divisional and global leadership, build financial intelligence through budgeting, reporting and analysis, and training of both operations and field personnel to equip them to administer their current role, as well as prepare them for future advancement.

**_Budgeting_**
- Oversee development, submission and administration of budgets for all mission units within the Division, including national and US based portions of said budget.
- Use the budget process as a strategic planning tool in addition to being a financial control.
