IT Specialist

**Duties**:
**Software Engineering/Applications Security Development**

**Supervisory**
- Provides technical, as needed, and administrative supervision over federal subordinates.
- Develops performance standards and evaluates work performance of subordinates. Gives advice, counsel, and instruction to employees on both work and administrative matters.

**Project Leadership**
- Provides expert technical advice, leadership, and direction on software engineering related projects and associated issues for the improvement of the Login.gov product.
- Leads, coordinates, communicates, integrates, and is accountable for the overall success of the program in relation to the larger program integration objectives, ensuring alignment with critical partner agency priorities.

**Provides Leadership to Ad Hoc Teams**
- Leads cross-functional teams at scale in highly complex environments to develop innovative software and/or related security and identity access management services.
- Plans, develops, and executes large-scale IT software development/engineering security and identity access management projects that transform the manner in which software engineering is accomplished.

- Serve a one year supervisory or managerial probationary period, if required
- Be able to work frequent overtime

The **GS-15**salary range starts at **$143,736** per year.

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level or higher in the Federal service.

- Experience leading teams of senior and staff-level engineers, including experience driving team alignment on technical approaches, defining roles & responsibilities, providing technical mentorship, and supporting continuous career growth.
- Experience leading engineering teams on a large scale (1M+ users) public-facing SaaS product comprised of multiple engineering teams working together on a single product.
- Experience developing robust software engineering practices on large teams, including implementing practices for code review, accessibility and other features of a mature software lifecycle.
