Dae East Region Leader

Liberty Mutual Global Retail Markets (GRM) Technology is seeking a passionate data and technology leader for the Global Data and Analytics Engineering (DAE) team for the East Region. The GRM East Region includes China, India, and Malaysia markets, as well as our Asian Market including operations in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam. We are on a journey to modernize our GRM data environments through Data Evolution (DEVO) program, and this leader will facilitate best practice and efficient global data solution architecture for the East Region. This role is critical to the implementation of several East Region strategic initiatives to improve insights derived from data. This leader is responsible for creating an aligned global data technology strategy and implementation framework for all GRM business functions (Claims, Underwriting etc.) across all East Region. In addition, this leader is responsible for program and engineering execution of the strategy through leading a direct team of onshore and offshore contract resources, as well as matrixed employees in Global DAE and across the regions. Solutions will leverage LM standard solutions where feasible, such as cloud technologies for MDM, LakeHouse, ingestion, data management, analytics, and common data models. This role reports to the VP and Senior Director for Global Data and Analytics Engineering (DAE) within GRM Technology. **What will you do?** - Drive and lead end-to-end delivery of data services for multiple initiatives and products for East Region - Manage a clear view of data architecture and initiatives across the East Region and actively communicate progress to stakeholders at various levels of the organization - Drive strong partnerships between your team, regional leadership, and business partners, including the Product Owners (PO) leadership in the GRM Data Office - Leverage external and internal teams to build data solutions which span many data platforms and technologies - cloud data platforms (MS Azure, AWS, Snowflake), Data Vault modeling, MDM (Reltio), ingestion (Snaplogic, Informatica), publication / semantic tools (Denodo, Power BI, Sagemaker), Data Catalog (Alation), orchestration (BMC Ctrl-M), CI/CD, DevOps tools and more - Work with internal and external partners to define and implement business and IT vision and roadmaps for data solutions across four (4) East markets - China, India, Malaysia, Asia MCM - Partner with Architecture/Data Strategy and Design teams on data solutions ensuring consistent use of design standards and patterns and on transformation initiatives, where appropriate - Own creation and execution of region plans for data assets in East region such as retirement plans, risk management/audit remediations, technical debt as well as enterprise initiatives like data center migrations - Build a strong team of partners and technologists across the world in a fun work environment to drive high standards of achievement as "one data team" - Partner with DAE Portfolio leadership to drive toward scaled Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps processes and metrics for delivering data solutions - Build partnerships and collaborate with technology peers (Security, IT operations, and infrastructure teams) - Build-out new or transform existing data tools or processes including protecting data as an asset (security, compliance, audit, etc.), data quality and governance, centra observability / orchestration, data cataloging and reference data or MDM functions. - Devise talent strategy for the team - identify resource gaps or inefficiencies, build hiring plan, contractor complement in line with acceptable ratios, recommend promotions and manage performance for consistency with the needs and vision of the department. - Establish financial plan for department, jointly with business and technology East Region partners, and in line with DAE goals / budget; ensures project financial plans are met - Develop and maintain a network of industry contacts; performs or directs research on industry trends, competitors, business, and IT products; analyzes trends and makes strategic and tactical recommendations. **Minimum Qualifications**: - Bachelor's or master’s degree in technical or business discipline or related experience; Master's Degree preferred. - Generally, a minimum of eight (8) years advancing experience in data engineering solutions such as data platforms, ingestion, data management, or publication / analytics - Four (4) years in data leadership or management roles - Depth of knowledge of data engineering practices including cloud data platforms, ingestion, publication / semantic layer, and orchestration - Depth of knowledge of data management practices such as data governance, data catalog, data modeling, and/or MDM - Working knowledge of Agile, CI/CD, and DevOps practices and tooling - Driven by excellence and motivates teams to achieve great things - Passion for operational efficiency, quantitative performance metrics and process orien
