Data Center Technician

**Overview**:
The Data Center Technician is responsible for performing daily operational tasks to monitor, maintain and support the organisation's data centre facilities and infrastructure. This hands-on technical role ensures the continuous and reliable operation of data centre systems, working under the supervision of data centre operations leadership.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Monitor data centre infrastructure components including servers, storage, network, power, cooling and environmentals
- Identify and respond to system alerts, performing preliminary troubleshooting and escalating incidents
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance activities on data centre equipment per defined schedules
- Assist with installations, upgrades, migrations and deployments within the data centre
- Participate in testing and execution of data centre operations procedures and disaster recovery plans
- Adhere to all operational processes, policies and service level agreements for the data centre
- Maintain accurate documentation related to data centre assets, configurations and procedures
- Follow safety protocols and compliance requirements within the data centre environment
- Liaise with vendors and assist with coordinating on-site technical support as needed
- Provide level 1 support by managing service desk tickets related to data centre operations
**Requirements**:
- Associate's degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Center Operations or related technical field
- 2-4 years of experience working in a data centre operations role
- Strong working knowledge of data centre facilities and infrastructure components
- Proficiency with data centre monitoring systems, ticketing systems and troubleshooting tools
- Familiarity with hardware deployments, asset management and change management
- Understanding of data centre operations best practices, policies and procedures
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Willingness to work a rotating shift schedule including off-hours on-call support
- Data centre certification(s) such as CDCP or equivalent preferred
