Role Summary:

- Able to take on 3 to 5 key origination markets for woodchips within 3 months of on boarding, drive strategic woodchips procurement projects, take ownership to successfully execute ( short and long term) contracts to secure woodchips supply for mill operations
- Able to reinforce physical trading mentality within existing team and drive commercial strategies to optimize supply of woodchips in event of abrupt changes in market conditions

**Responsibilities**:

- Develop commercial strategies and work with team members to drive and implement these strategies successfully
- Work closely with end customer, suppliers and in house freight team to optimize shipment schedule and vessel planning to meet production requirements and maximize efficiency
- Focus on cost, quality, delivery, reliability and technical performance while achieving both tactical and strategic goals.
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with key suppliers
- Drive business development to establish new suppliers and new woodchips flows which satisfied the quality and cost requirement of downstream mills.
- Be well versed in the life cycle of a physical commodity trade and must have hands on experience in most of these activities
- Work with internal client and quality team to drive continuous improvement on product quality to meet end customers quality requirement and add operational efficiencies and additional value to the main downstream mill customer
- Effective communicator to senior management and external counterparts from diverse geographical locations and cultural background.
- Work with internal market intelligence and strategic planning team to identify key market trends in key originations market. Adapt and develop strategies based on short and long term trends
- Lead negotiation with suppliers on pricing, contractual commercial terms, optionality to deliver best returns for the business.
- Take initiative and be responsible to take on ad hoc projects to improve business process and create enhance tools for knowledge retention

**Requirements**:
To be successful in this role, it is recommended that you should have the following skills and qualifications:

- At least 7 years of combined experience in Commodity Risk Analysis and/or Market Analysis and/or Cargo/ Vessel Operations
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of physical commodity trading experience
- Bachelor degree with proven performance track record in a highly diverse cross functional background
- Techno commercial
- Possess good physical commodities trading knowledge & business acumen
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Excellent strategic thinking and negotiation skills
- Managed a small team of at least 1 - 2 persons directly or indirectly
- Responsible for a small individual book
