**Overview**:
Category Manager (CM) / Sourcing and Procurement Advisor is an individual contributor role which is responsible (but not limited to) for procurement and sourcing management of direct materials (Tier 2 suppliers) production and/or services in accordance with supply chain optimization and management objectives. CM is responsible for the development, execution, and management of the assigned category/commodity strategies to support our EMS/JDM manufacturing partners and business operations supply chain needs efficiently and competitively. This position leads a cross-functional team to identify, qualify and manage a global supply base to provide the team’s assigned commodities.
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for managing the spend and savings of the assigned categories and aligned to procurement strategies and goals.
- Act as primary point of contact for assigned suppliers in assigned categories. simultaneously be the main channel for internal stakeholders and bridging the gap to supplier.
- Maintain and grow good supplier relationship management. Develop strong relationships with suppliers that facilitate a deep understanding of their organizations and capabilities to support short term and long term business needs.
- Ability to identify and develop suppliers capabilities that is aligned to long term technology roadmap of Zebra
- Create and execute commodity strategies that best leverage supplier capabilities aligned to procurement goals and to meet corporate objectives of quality, cost and delivery. develop resilient strategies to mitigate the risks and support BOM resiliency initiatives.
- Coordinate and support on-site supplier visits, assessments, audits, and continuous improvement opportunities to optimize total cost and address issues with supplier performance
- Assess gaps in supplier performance and implement appropriate continuous improvement activities
- Collaborate with Strategic Component Team and Design Engineering to source, select, and establish new suppliers, source new technologies, as well as resolve technical related issues and tasks
- Coordinates material sourcing for new product introduction (NPI) projects, in collaboration with R&D, MBTC, PM and suppliers. Establishes and manages supplier relationships including negotiating contracts and prices, monitoring supplier performance, selecting/analyzing the supply base and developing and executing the commodity plans.
- May be responsible for contributing to or leading process improvement efforts, such as in new product introduction (NPI), resourcing, cost reduction and/or quality. May have global responsibility and/or support multiple sites.
- Manage shortages and/or drive level 3 escalations to help improve deliveries and mitigate PPV cost efficiently.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve other relevant business objectives such as, delivery issues, liability exposure, drive down cost variances, supply continuity and meeting annual inventory targets
- Driving Event Driven Cost Reduction (EDCR) or Value Engineering (Cost reduction project) activities with the suppliers, Supply Chain Ops and Engineering. Identifying potential Lean Six Sigma project and working closely with SDE and suppliers to achieve the LSS goal.
- Serve as the center of knowledge for assigned category and share knowledge with key stakeholders and members of the category teams to enable more effective planning, forecasting and execution
- Market intelligence capabilities whereby CM is able to analyze data or insights to understand industry and price trends regarding the categories and raw materials.
- Accountable for supporting turnkey initiatives of the relevant categories as required for new and sustaining programs.
- Experiences in PCB, Flex, antenna and connectors would be added advantage but may be changed/reshuffle as needed to suit business needs and team alignment.
**Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's degree required with a preference for
Accounting/Finance, Business Administration, Supply
Chain, Engineering, or related; MBA, CPSM is a plus.
