Manager - Waste Management Business Operations

**Description**

The Company is recruiting to fill one (1) regular, full-time position in the class of Waste Management Business Operations Manager.

**The manager will be required to work on some weekends as required by the job and provide adequate coverage for scale house and other facilities.
**Essential Functions**

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Business development
- Directly or through supervisory staff selects, trains, motivates, and evaluates assigned personnel; provides or coordinates staff training; works with employees to correct deficiencies; implements discipline and termination procedures.
- Continually evaluates the services, policies, procedures, and training requirements to ensure optimum customer service is provided.
- Plans, directs, coordinates, and reviews the work plan for the solid and liquid waste operation, landfill maintenance, scale house operations, and landfill gas to electricity services and activities.
- Assigns work activities and projects; monitors workflow and completion of work projects; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures; meets with staff to identify and resolve problems.
- Participates in the development of the scale house, landfill operations, and maintenance annual budget; participates in forecasting funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures; implements adjustments.
- Assumes management responsibility for assigned services and activities of solid and liquid waste operation and landfill gas to electricity including landfill maintenance staff.
- Manages and participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for assigned programs affecting the operations and maintenance of the landfill and transfer facility; recommends and administers policies and procedures.
- Oversees the work of private contractors including, but not limited to, those involved with the operation and maintenance of organic waste and liquid waste materials recovery and recycling.
- Identifies opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identifies resource needs; obtains approval for improvements as needed/required; implements improvements.
- Attends and participates in professional group meetings; stays abreast of new trends and innovations related to the field of solid waste and organic recovery and recycling operation.
- Responds to and resolve difficult and sensitive customer inquiries and complaints.
- Prepares analytical and statistical reports on operations and activities.
- Performs related duties as assigned.

**Education**:

- Degree or Master in Chemical Engineering / Environment Science or equivalent.
- Minimum 10 years of operations/process engineering experience in the following sector: Chemical or Hydrocarbon Processing Industry, Cement Industry, Merchant Navy, Power Plant, or Environmental Business.
- Preferably 1st-grade Steam Boiler Engineer Certification.

**Experience**:
Minimum of five (5) years of full-time, progressively responsible experience supporting solid waste management operations such as maintenance of energy facility, organics program, liquid and/or solid non-hazardous or hazardous waste, non-hazardous or hazardous materials programs; and/or waste facilities management performing a broad range of operational and maintenance planning activities; and/or technical and administrative duties such as program analysis and budgeting, contract administration, or another technical environmental management function.

**Knowledge Of**:

- Principles and practices of management and organizational theory, including planning, organizational design, business finance, business development, project management, and organizational effectiveness
- Principles and practices of supervision, discipline, leadership, mentoring, and training
- Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations regarding solid waste reduction, household hazardous waste, and recycling programs
- Maintenance and preventive maintenance and repair of facility infrastructure
- Power production and other related energy facility operation and maintenance
- Operation and maintenance of liquid waste and organic and food waste recovery and recycling
