Head of Maritime Training

**Job Overview**
This position is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of our global seafarers’ learning and development to deliver future ready Wallem Professional seafarers. Ensure delivery of all added value training necessary to ensure competent and safe operations by our crew, full compliance with all relevant regulations and enhance the skills needed for career growth both on board and for transitioning to shore-based roles within the Group. Ensure training is designed and delivered in an effective, efficient and interactive manner. Supervision and administration of the training fund. The vision for this role would be to establish Wallem’s brand as the market leader in seafarers learning and development.
**Responsibilities**:
- Ensure a comprehensive understanding of Wallem Group’s 3-year strategy and objectives and aligns seafarers learning and development strategy accordingly
- Capitalize on opportunities to grow our Training Functions as a business offering to external seafarers and derive competitive advantage from such initiatives
- Manage the training of Seafarers ensuring the safe and competent performance of seafarers, compliance regulations are met, and Wallem goal of Employer of Choice established through training and career development opportunities and coaching support to seafarers
- Ensure officers on board are trained to effectively lead and coach their subordinates
- Identify training needs and translate them into appropriate learning interventions and methods for seafarers
- Establish high quality unified standards if training and delivery across ranks and training venues that meets all regulation requirements and Company needs.
- Innovate and champion training solutions which are tailored, economic, effective, efficient and synergistic
- Monitor value for money spent on training of seafarers through collaborative work with targeted training institutes in different regions. Supervise and administrate the collection and disbursement of the training funds
- Evaluate, procure and maintain training resources to allow effective and conducive training for seafarers
- Participate in the performance monitoring of seafarers on board ships as well as conducted training on board ships periodically
- Supervise the evaluation of training outcomes and the performance of faculty members on periodic basis
- Act as the training design authority and primary technical point of contact for training matters such as needs analysis and solution/support delivery for seafarers’ development
- Work with the course “Course and content review committee” to identify learning and development needs and trends within the business
**Job Requirements**
- Degree in Maritime / Shipping or related disciplines
- Minimum 10 years of maritime training and education experience in leadership position
- Seagoing experience as Master Mariner or Chief Engineer is preferred
- Experience in managing and developing training programme
- Experience of designing and delivering a variety of training solutions
- Strong communicator with a good command of English
- Be ready for and capable of frequent travel globally without restriction
