You are part of a team that develops and enhances the Strategic Communications (SC) capabilities of the Town Council. On this, you will assist the Corporate Communications Manager in the identification of operational concepts and desired capabilities for Strategic Communications, as well as to work out a master plan to develop these capabilities and manage related projects.You will also establish response plans to anticipated scenarios with significant SC impact. Your challenge lies in identifying and incorporating new initiatives to ensure that the Town Council stays at the leading edge of the information curve.

**Your other duties include**:
Assist in drafting communications materials (e.g. writing press releases, synopsis, publicity contents)
Assist in poster designs
Compile, track, summarise and report on media coverage
Conduct background research on topics
Assist with maintaining contact lists, editorial forward features lists, and event calendars
Assist with corporate communications and media relations engagements (e.g. liaising with journalists, distributing press releases, providing support for press conferences)
Assist on new business initiatives (e.g. conducting research on prospects, creating and editing PowerPoint presentations and proposals, etc.)
Other tasks as necessary

**Requirements**:

- Tertiary qualification, preferably in social sciences or mass communication, with electives in organisation and/or business development;
- Good verbal, writing and analytical skills;
- Capable of handling multiple projects independently;
- Enjoy working on a varied portfolio;
- Interest in and good knowledge of social media platforms and new developments in communication is necessary;
- Has a creative eye; and
- Has a positive working attitude.
