Summary This position is located at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ), Office of Research, Evaluation, Forensics and Technology (OREFT), Office of Violence and Victimization Prevention (OVVP), in Washington, D.C. NIJ provides objective, independent, evidence-based knowledge and tools to meet the challenges of crime and justice, particularly at the state and local levels. Duties Manages the tribal crime, tribal justice and tribal victimization research portfolio in the Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ), Office of Violence and Victimization Prevention (OVVP). Serves as a research technical expert in tribal crime, tribal justice and tribal victimization and other related topics. Performs a variety of research analysis, program evaluation, and other tasks in furtherance of the tribal crime, tribal justice and tribal victimization and other related research portfolios in OVVP. Serves as a research technical expert for a significant segment of a tribal crime, tribal justice and tribal victimization social science focus area or program area and evaluate the scientific research aspects of a wide variety of program grants, research-based grants, contracts, and cooperative agreements. Manages the scientific review of proposals for research grants, cooperative agreements, and contracts related to the tribal crime, tribal justice and tribal victimization portfolio. **Requirements**: Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship required. Confidential Financial Disclosure may be required **Security Requirements**: Non-Sensitive/Moderate Risk **Qualifications**: **Special Placement Factor**: Previous or current experience in conducting or overseeing research in tribal crime, tribal justice, and/or tribal victimization. **Basic Entry Requirements**: **Degree**: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position; - OR- Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field; - OR- Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. **Specialized Experience**: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level. Specialized experience is experience which is in or related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the specific knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. **Examples of specialized experience include**: Provides guidance on the development and modification of research programs, data analysis, and scientific paper writing in the field of tribal crime, tribal justice and tribal victimization. Serves as a research expert in tribal crime, tribal justice, and tribal victimization, leading peer review panels and formulating recommendations for funding. Offers research analysis and/or research-based advice on tribal crime, tribal justice, and tribal victimization program issues, integrating current scientific knowledge and evidence. Reviews and/or conducts complex research analyses, evaluations, and literature reviews in support of tribal crime, tribal justice, and tribal victimization research.
