IT Specialist

**Duties**:
As a Information Technology Specialist, you will administer multiple highly complex and innovative IT projects, initiatives, and comparable activities to develop, deliver, and support program office, agency and/or other stakeholder IT systems and services and:

- Provide guidance and planning on IT guidelines, principles, and practices to achieve IT goals and objectives.
- Leverage research, analyses, evaluations, and assessments of decision-making and operational alternatives personally conducted or collected from other sources to identify and mitigate risks and implement improved, enhanced, or new IT products, services, and practices to expand upon or supplant existing precedents and methods.
- Collaborate with executive and other management and staff within stakeholder organizations and other entities to define IT systems, program, project, and/or related priorities.

- US Citizenship or National (Residents of American Samoa and Swains Island)
- Meet all eligibility criteria within 30 days of the closing date

- **Current or Former Political Appointees**: The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. - Serve a one-year probationary period, if required.
- Undergo and pass a background investigation based on the Security Level designation on the assigned Position Description.
- Current civil service employees will receive new appointments if selected under this DHA.

The GS-14 salary range starts at $122,198 per year.

If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.

To qualify, you must have at least one year of **specialized experience** equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in the federal service.

Specialized experience is defined as:

- Providing advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues.
- Collaborating across boundaries to build strategic relationships, achieve common goals, and resolve sensitive IT issues.
- Communicating technical knowledge with stakeholders at varying levels to evaluate the feasibility of IT projects and deliverables.

Also, you must have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the **four competencies** as described below:

- Attention to Detail - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant investigates and evaluates “state of the art” technology of the industry.
- Customer Service - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant confers with users to evaluate the effectiveness of, or identify the need for, computer programs or management systems.
- Oral Communication - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant persuades others to take a particular course of action or to accept findings, recommendations, changes, or alternative viewpoints.
- Problem Solving - This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant identifies and accommodates technology and resource constraints.
